Subject: 4.7L Dak on E85?

E85 is finally coming to my area of central TX. We are glad! I will do anything to get out of the current $700/month fuel bill I have now.

I have gone to different sites and found that new 05+ 4.7 Durango's are E85 compatable along with Ram 1500's. No listings for Dakota's?????

I looked over some buddies vehicles that are E85 compatable. All of them have "Alcohol resistant" stamped on the fuel hoses. That is the only difference I can visually see.

I've been shopping around for E85 conversions, None of them will tell you what the conversion kit contains. I'm not getting screwed $200 for a "Alcohol Resistant" piece of 5' hose.

Anybody else wondering?

Any engine Techs figure out how we can make this happen?

Not only can we make it happen but... HOW and How MUCH?

You cannot legally convert a vehicle to run on E85 due to federal emissions laws. Above is an article that should explain a lot as to if your vehicle can run E85 vs. E10. An E85 mixture can corrode the internal parts of your engine if it isn't built to be able to run that type of fuel mixture.

I doubt your fuel cost would be much lower should you convert. 90% of people that run E85 have lower mileage than running regular unleaded.

First you start off by increasing the compression ratio to about 12:1. Then I think you need a completely different engine controller.
