'99 CC 5.2 Auto, 3.55 open diff, Gibson 3" Catback, Airaid intake, best run 15.57@89 at Raceway Park in NJ, when the truck had 6,000 miles.

Have since added Transgo shift kit, 180-tstat, Autolite 3923s. Testing w/Gtech Pro, ideal conditions (airtemp under 70f): 0-60 7.0, 1/4 15.43@93 (Gtech estimates speed at end of quarter vs trap speed)

First nite out I ran 16.30's @ 86 in my 4.7 5-spd. Stock 7000 miles on the truck shifting at 4700 rpm.

Now I run 15.18 @ 90 with 45000 miles on the truck shifting at 5500 rpm. And a few tweaks.

Give me a few more weeks and I'll be in the mid 14's.

RC 5.9L: 14.8-15.2 1/4
CC 5.9L: 15.4-16.2 1/4

Really varies depending upon the altitude, humidity, track conditions, driver experience, type of tires, etc...

The best I've been able to squeeze out of my 2001 CC R/T is 15.7, but at sea level with slicks I'd run faster.

If your looking for the fastest "stock" V8 Dakota ,it would be a gen II 5.2 5sp with a 3.92 gear. The 92-96 was about 300# less than the new ones. Some of the GEN II trucks could do a 1/4 in the mid 14's stock!!!

I took my 01 RC R/T to Texas Motorplex a few weeks ago. It was only 3 days after I bought the truck with 8000 miles on it. I shifted manualy each time. First run with A/C on and hit rev. Lim each shift I got a 16.1@88mph. After I realized what I was doing I pulled a best of 15.23@89.5mph. I just installed a transgo shiftkit a couple days ago, and a Reflexxion Cowl hood, MPI single plane manifold and MPI Headers are coming in a couple of months or so. Then I'll take it back to the track!

n8 Dawg...go for it. Mostly because it's your Rig, and it's your prerogative to enjoy it.

Gotta tell you one thing...and this is from experience. No matter what you spend, or what you've got, you will inevitably find someone that spent more, or knows more, and they will clean your clock.

Just do your mods and have fun. Don't worry about everybody else

Dennis, is your truck a RC or CC? Have 4wd or 2wd? I had a 93 RC 2wd 318 with 3.55 gears and a limited slip that went 15.9 pure stock with a passenger at sea level on a decient day, and a best of 14.9 at the same track on a similar day after about $500 in mods (MP PCM being the main contributer.)

best time to date is 15.152@90.65...with a blazing 1.12 RT...I need more practice. This was also made with a fubar'ed cat. converter, though I didn't know it at the time. 93 Dak Sport, RC, 318/A518, 3.92 limited slip, doug thorley headers, MP PCM, K&N drop-in filter, single 3" exhaust w/ Flowmaster muffler, forget the exact model. 150k miles on the clock. oh, and LT235/75R goodyear tires. REALLY HARD to launch on those. :D

On the 93 I had the MP PCM, MSD wires, and accel regular round coil, 233/60/15 tires on the back, a drop in K&N (with the top lid of the air cleaner flipped, or a regular 12" chrome lid, I can't rembember), a short belt that bypassed the a/c and power steering, I removed the muffler and exhaust behind the cat, removed the tailgate, rear bumber, and spair, and the 200 pound passenger.

Mine's a '92 318. See the performance and mods at http://www.dragtruk.com/ENTRIES/20KM1FD2KWBP.html

Just installed an M1 2-bbl intake and a Hughes 1418 cam. Friday nite, on a SLIPPERY track I ran a 13.823 @ 99.56 mph. If the track was prepped right and my 60' times returned to normal it should have run a 13.74.

I have the 00 4.7 reg. cab 3:92 5-speed. I have Lakewood traction bars, a single Flowmaster muffler, soft tonneau, and removed spare tire.

In this trim, it has gone a best of 14.86 @ 91mph. The 60ft'er is a 2.0 Launching at 1,800rpm and shifting at about 5,400rpm. I like to play around with my shift-points though.

The truck just recently turned 10K on the clock, and I'm ready for some forced induction. I'm getting impatient waiting on the turbos, I might get the KB. Want some enjoyable memories.

To each his own. The most fun truck to drive for me though was my brother-in-laws 95 Dak 318 5-speed. The low-end torque was soo much better. But the 4.7 is a revver.

They are all good trucks. My first Dakota was a 96 3.9V-6...It was a good one! Never a problem

when i use to have it, i ran a 17.7 in my 2001 rc v-6 3.55. it had an airaid intake and catback exhaust. the thing is that was with a 1.2 reaction time so maybe 17.2 or so was possible thats not bad for an automatic. o yea so far i have not ran my 2001 rc 4.7 3.55 auto, hope it can run alot faster then my other one did.
