key on/off/on/off/on within 15 seconds. "on" does not mean start.
if that still doesn't work try stopping at a local Autozone. they'll read them for free.

The O2 sensors before the catalytic converter are different from the ones after it.
If you installed four identical O2 sensors, that may be part of the continuing problem.

Hey Y'all,
My engine light is on and my Dak's given me a P0138 which is coming up on the OBDII website as a Fuel Temperature Sensor A Circuit High Input. What does this mean?

Hello, Anyone have any info as to what would cause a cylinder 4 misfire? (that is what the fault code P0304 translates to according to the OBD11.com site). It's a "04" Dakota 4.7L V-8.
Any info would be appreciated.

Thank's,
RH

I hope you have found why your truck is getting bad mileage by now. The Bosch Platinum +4 plugs to not preform very good in low revving engines like V8s and larger V6s. These plugs do best in hi revving engines like crotch rocket bikes and small displacment 4cyl engines. Get some Autolite or NGK platinum, Double Plat, or Iridium plugs for your engine and stay away from the gimicy multi electrode or amplifying plugs.

Note to the rest of the post:
Just because the computer calls out the O2 sensor that does not mean it is the O2 sensor, a plugged cat will cause the upstream to get too hot and the downstream to get too cold calling out a Cat effeciency code or curcuit failure code for the bank in question. One tank of bad gas can destroy a cat, one wrong fuel additive can do it as well. Octane boosters can contain lead and they will clog a cat faster than any thing else. Also check that you put the correct sensor in place. The upstream sensor operates at a higher temp then the downstream if you get these backwards (yes they will fit) you will be chasing alot of problems as well. Also not enough back pressure from the muffler can cause problems in both the O2 sensors and the cat, make sure if you put a cat back sytem on your truck that it has enough BP to not mess your sensors up or get your computer reprogrammed to know that the voltages will be different on the O2 sensors. Hope this helps you guys out there.

Hey all you idiots like me. Do you think everyone is a Dodge mechanic? Why don't you explain throughly what your talking about instead of using, cat, coil pack, PO314, OBDll. I just wanted to know if I need to go to the dealership to get this turned off, but reading this column leaves me to think you people are no smarter than me. I see no limit to the amount of words can be used here. Thanks alot for the no help. I'll go nest door and ask my neighbor, he ownes a Ford, I'll probably get a better answer.

If the abreviations and jargon are too difficult for you, and that's the best way you know to ask for clarification - then yes, you can go to the dealer or your Ford buddy.

Lead, follow, or get out of the way

My apologies if you can't figure out that the abbreviations I used have already been defined in the beginning of this post. In case you disagree the abbreviations stand for: www.obdii.com On-Board Diagnostic System. If our automotive jargon is to much for you here's a page to help you catch up. http://www.obdii.com/acronyms.html Apparently, you should go ask the Ford man/dealership if you haven't deduced how to fix it from the info they've given you.

As for us being no smarter than you, apparently I am as my Dakota is running good as new thanks to the guys on here and I didn't have to take her into the dealership/shop. I'm no mechanic, but I am a girl who's smart enough to figure out how to fix my own truck with a little bit of help from the guys on here.

I am with Kat here. If you have a hard time with OBDII , Cat, Coil Pack..etc maybe you don't belong trying to fix your own vehicle to begin with. These are simple terms relating to basic components on your truck. Next time spend some time learning something about how your vehicle operates, what makes it work and how. It will help us understand your question, help you understand our answer and maybe eliminate the need for you to post a stupid question to begin with.
