I have a 5.9 R/T 2002 well ive had it a couple of weeks now and i am going to get a cold air intake tommarow. What can i expect with a K&N long air filter and a custom made pipe from stailess steel? I know its nothing major performance wise but how about gas milage?

anything that opens up the intake should improve fuel econ so long as you don't floor it all the time. actually, ANY mod, outside of larger cam lobes, that increases HP should also encourage better fuel economy, so long as you think of the two MAIN factors, your foot, and the gas pedal. consider this as just an example, a 5,9, we'll say, produces 220 HP at 3K rpm.... now, you mod it, and its now producing 220 HP at idle... you shouldn't have to touch the gas to get the same HP that you originally had to go to 3 k to get.
On average, I've noticed around 2-3 mpg increase with a high flow filter on a few R/T's. Just keep in mind, that a metal pipe, even though they look good, will absorb heat, which in turn heats up your intake air, which could definitely affect the overall MPG increase you get. colder air is the object of the intake kits such as the FIPK or AirRaid systems, thats why most companies use thick plastic tubing.
