Open your exhuast! High flow cat(if you have to have one) and muffler. And if you really want to get in it, then replace your "Y" pipe and collector. And yes a 52mm would not hurt.

I feel your pain, I've been down that road.

2000 CC R/T 52mm TB, M1, 2.02 R/T heads (polished chambers), headers 3.5" exhaust, flowmaster 40 single, MP PCM, removed engine driven fan(It's back on now Damnit), MSD ign-BTM, Taylor "409" plug wires with boots, Keith Black pistons, 5140 rods, ARP head studs, Hotchkis suspension 2/3 drop, Transgo shift kit, lot's of little stuff! More to come!

03RT, I haven't been able to get to the track yet this year with the latest mods.

mikee c, What cam did you put in, and where did you set the cam timing. What is your fuel timing set at? Did you match port your M1 to your heads?
Just some questions to see if it will give us a clue.

Does the truck feel strong? Wheres your powerband? Did you lose a lot of torque with the 2.02s? I'm looking to do heads and cam soon and I wanna know what to expect. Whats your cam specs if you don't mind me asking? Who ported the heads? Sorry for all the questions.

Q: Does the truck feel strong?
A: Yes, most of the time. Sometimes it feels like a turd, I think it's heat related.

Q: Wheres your powerband?
A: About 3200 to 6000 strongest at 4000

Q: Did you lose a lot of torque with the 2.02s?
A: I don't know, I bought this thing with 2.02 heads. I verified by part number and mesured them.

Q: Whats your cam specs
A: Stock cam (I'm getting the 1.7's soon)

Q: Who ported the heads?
A: I just cleaned up the ports, polished the bowls and matchported them to the M1.

I had a S/C on it and have had the heads off a few times from blown gaskets. I'm going to be putting it back on when I get a return fuel system installed.

You by the truck used? Thats awesome. Are they actual aftermarket R/T heads? They have the lil R/T emblem on em? Yeah you definately gotta upgrade that cam to get anything out of those heads. Get some 1.6 rockers and a cam setup for the blower. Your truck will be sick with the right cam and the blower.

03RT, Yeah they have the R/T raised lettering. I'm thinking on a R/T cam with 1.7 rollers so I don't have to keep swapping the cam for emissions.

At 11:1 compression and 6# boost this thing kicks hard, but on the downside it heats up fast. I know it should be lower but that’s what I ended up with and I'm too impatient to wait for different parts. HAHA The price you pay I guess.

mikee c, I would at least check the matching of the ports to the M1. The M1 should have a smaller hole than the heads witch is ok. But if you have a step in it where the head port is covering the manifold port you will not make power for sure. It disrupts the air flow too much. Chances are it's just a tunning issue, you have the parts to be lethal.

Check out the delphiforums under Dakota R/T They should be more help than I am.

I use too own a 01R/T with every mods from the block up, except for the HV oil pump I installed.

Lets say the truck was faster with the stock heads than it was with the R/T heads & KRC206 cam. Dont get the 2.02 R/T heads unless you get a big cam with lope/w Stall Converter or go blown.

I still have a dodge but this time I went with a SRT4.

You're kidding right? 11:1 CR with 6PSI that crazy. 11:1 with no boost you're have to run 91-93. Are you sure you're running 11:1, Im not surprised it heating up if not melting from Ping unless your running alumnium heads which you can run a 1 CR higher than norm.

Stock is 8.9:1 I think.

You think P&P 1.92 R/T heads would be better for everyday driving over the 2.02s?

It's not so much the valve size since they aren't that much bigger, it the port size that matters, they are bigger than the stock heads which hurts port velocity.

How high of a stall do you recommend for the 2.02s? I already have 52mm F&B TB, M1, K&N fipk, MSD 6A, B&G M1 flash, 4.56 gears, Msaine VB, GSM headers and duals. Was gonna do some 2.02s and a cam with some 1.6 rockers. Was also thinking about a 2400 TCI stall. But I don't wanna do the heads if it's gonna kill everyday driving performance. I don't race that much. What do you think?

I can't suggest a good stall because I never did it but needed too. The 2400 TCI stall does sound good, anything higher could degrade your every day driving, so you did 4.56? Wow hows the gas on that and highway driving? Gears and the stall could be putting your out of your power band fast into higher RPM where your stock cam goes flat.

Before going with a stall, try somelike like a KRC210 or 216 to raise your powerband. Rockers are nice, I've ran 1.7 with a KRC206. I'll suggest getting the non-adjustable 1.6rr to never having to worry about adjusting them. Only problem with bigger cams is the need for stronger springs. Also you can remove the third cat with out throwing any codes, that helps it breath for more power.

I don't have any cats. I have the GSmotorsports R/T powerplate headers 4into1 design with 1 7/8" primaries into mandrel bent 2.5" spintech true duals with x-pipe all exiting before the passenger side rear tire. The truck screams from about 2800 to the 5400 shift point begging not to be shifted. From a stop it will break the tires loose in a major way on the 1-2 shift.

Sounds like you've invisted lots of money & time already just like I did, sorry to say but going N/A with a stock 360 bottom will only get you into the low 14's maybe high 13's depending on traction and location without going Blown or NOS. Dakotas are heavy and need lots of power to move. I've done this route and seen others try it also with the same outcome. Except for that twin turbo 5.9L, which didn't work out too well. If low 14's suits you then go head, if not find another solution. BTW My stock R/T did 15.7@87@3000FT in the 90's. After that I did 14.8@93 with headers,1.7rr,M1 turtle,F&B50mm, cut third cat. After that I added cam, heads, timing chain, and more. I didn't test it at the track but it didn't feel any more powerful, let say I also tried a modded Stocker intake cut down with the cam & heads, hypertech and only pulled a 15.00@91

It's a bitch to make a R/T go fast. All I can say is my stock car does 13's stock and I'm waiting on my Stage 2 upgrade with only speding $800 bucks. Don't get me wrong I love the R/T but it's not going to beat too many at the track.

It's the gears that give you the awesome low end which you describe, I suggest trying a dyno to map out your powerband, from there you can see if you need more top end or not. Yes, I would personally hold off on doing heads! Go for a cam before anything else. Also the M1 screams from 3500-4000+ up to near 6k 12inch runners compared to 20+ stockers?
