Does any one have an idea whats up?
I have a '02 dakota quad with a 4.7 auto. I purchased the truck with some sheetmetal damage on the front including radiator, so I couldnt drive it when I bought it. I have it back together now and have a problem. The thing is in 4lo and the gear indicator on the dash keeps rolling from park to first (the indicator only, the tranny isnt shifting) Even when i just turn the key on not even start it, the indicator does this. I reset the pcm and did a self test and it comes up P1698 which is "no ccd/j1850 messages received from the tcm". I went to my local auto recycler that had the same vehicle and he let me try the TCM from a another truck, it still does the same thing. I have checked all fuses and even swapped out the tranny relay (from the engine fuse box)and still nothing. Is it time to bring it to the dealer? or does someone have an idea?
