Hey, let's get back to the original thread. Does anyone know anything about this manifold? Will those of us with the the earlier manifold (2000) have trouble installing this manifold because the sensors having been changed? Come on share your knowledge if you have it!

No problems at all - the IAT sensor is the only difference. The newer HO intake that came on my 03 has a mounting hole for the IAT sensor on the driver's side just below the TB mount. The 2001 HO intake that I stupidly installed has a port for the sensor on the same side. If you look at the pics of the intake manifolds at the links posted earlier in this thread, you can see the IAT ports/plugs. The 03 HO intake had a plug in the IAT port because the sensor was mounted in the airhat/baffle from the factory.
The only difficulty I can think of would be if you put the 03/04 HO intake on a 01 and earlier 4.7. Newer 4.7s have a 1/4 turn install IAT sensor; older (01 and pre-, I believe) 4.7s use a brass base pipe thread sensor - no biggie, you can buy the newer 1/4 turn sensors for about $20, wiring hookups are the same.
BTW, I do have a nearly new 01 4.7 HO intake manifold if anyone is interested - use the e-mail address under my name for contact.

Ian...I dunno, I guess I like it. It's about as badass as a stationary metal pipe could be :P

I really, really want a fastman tb, I had one on for about a month and the performance was just great, it really woke up the ho cams, however I got this terrible pedal vibration from it so i returned it. Some say the vibe is caused by a wave in the intake manifold while others say it is the cam degree. Anyways, I wonder if the new design of the ho manifold addresses this issue, as i know even on a few stock 4.7's there is a little bit of a pedal vibe, just not as pronounced as with an aftermarket tb. Wouldn't that be great if I had to buy the new manifold and the tb, you know...just to smooth things out a bit. Any thoughts, anyone have a vibration before they changed out manifolds and it disappeared afterwards?

Ian -
I'm running a Fastman TB, and did notice a significant decrease in throttle pedal vibe when I went back to the OE 03 HO manifold, versus the 01 HO intake. Not completely gone, but only barely noticeable if I'm on it hard up over 5K. Pretty much back to what it was with the stock TB, manifold, and air intake.

Wow...that seems to really confirm my suspicion that these changes adressed at least in part the peadl vibration...aw oh...I may have to make some purchases here. So let me get this straight Scott, the newer version of the h.o. manifold both (1) restored your low end torque and (2) nearly completely minimized the pedal vibe?

You got it right on both counts, Ian - guess I'll end up cutting the top out of my 01 HO manifold and planting 'maters in it!
With the older HO manifold, I never got what I would call a shudder, though - but a very srong buzz, strong enough to make my foot go numb. I once wore hard-soled shoes driving down the highway, and with cruise set on 80, I could actually hear the pedal vibrate if I gently place my foot on the pedal. If you're getting a shudder, you may want to check the pedal pivot, make sure nothing is loose or worn under there, as well.

Yeah, the term shudder might be a little extreme but definately a very strong vibration, exactly how u put it "enough to put my foot to sleep". Anyways, how difficult is the install of the manifold? Already had a shop down the street do the cams, and that ran me quite a bit.

Manifold swap is WAY simple! Remove air hat and hose, disconnect applicable vacuum lines and wiring (not many required), remove TB, unbolt manifold and remove. Bolt in new manifold, hook up disconnected items, reset PCM, and go. Less than an hour.

Damn now I'm at a loss, below is what i wrote to one vendor (a big 4.7 jeep guy)

"Do you sell the new 2004 4.7 liter intake manifold, part number P/N 53013403AC? WJJeeps.com lists oem price right around $86, if you can get it, how much would you charge? Thank you for your time."

His reply
"Hello,I won't sell that particular model for use on an earlier year 4.7. There are too many revisions that both complicate fitment and performance. They really cheapened the intake after 2002 -- The '03 and '04 manifolds are very poor quality as compared to the '02 HO version, and look like they will not flow as well either.
If you're wanting to upgrade, definitely get the '02 version for best results. What vehicle is this being installed on? Any other mods yet? Let me know if you need any assistance in extracting more power from your 4.7 and I'll make recommendations."

Whatcha all think, are the newer versions really "cheapened", are there fitment issues? ScottE, you put the 02 on your 03 with no fitment issues right? What this guy is saying seems to directlty contradict what you say...anyone else out there that can speak on this from experience?

No fitment issues at all - a bit tougher to get the 02 manifold manuevered into position due to the increased depth/curve of the runners, but that cost maybe 10 minutes, tops. Also, consider that "best results" is a very subjective term. 2wd owners may not care about sacrificing some bottom end for top end gain, but 4 wheelers may place low end as a higher priority. So "best" is dependent on the individual - on my 4wd 03 manual QC, the newer HO intake is much more to my liking. And as to being "cheapened", both are made of the same plastic - but the 02 IS two-toned...ooohhhhhhhhh... and has "HO" embossed on the rear (where you'll never see it).

You can get the manifold for about $64 here:
http://www.moparpartsdistributor.com/
I'd still like to find someone that know what is required to install this on a 2000 4.7L engine.
