i have a 92 v8 318 mag. it has 250,000 KM on it. it seams it just dosen't have the power like it once had. i've put on a K&N new plugs,wires, coil. plus a cat back. but the power at the bottom end just isn't there. this summer i'm doing a solid axle swap and will be riding on 35"tires so more power would be great. how can i get the power back, any tips or tricks, thanks for the help.

kota on 20 what do you mean by rebuild. complet tear down. replace what? a little more detail would be gret. i'm take it that a shop would have to do this for me. now much $$ am i looking at.

I agree have it rebuilt, get it bored with new pistons and cam, prob have more power than ever but if you have that much on trans then that will need to be rebuilt also.

where are you tj?
most shops around toronto want about $1800 for a complete rebuild, thats if you take out the motor, dodge motor are conciderably more expencive to build that chev and ford.
i know of a really good dodge motor guy if your in the toronto area.

in the summit catalog, a brand new 380 cu in magnum engine for $3800, dont mess with rebuilding, this crate engine is rated at 380hp/410tq

REBUILD IT? STROKE IT OUT WITH A DECENT SET OF PISTONS AND CRANK, RINGS, BEARINGS, NEW OIL PUMP, AND FIND A SHOP TO HOT TAMK IT BORE IT AND BLUEPRINT IT. $3000 WOULD BE MAX, BUT YOU WON'T REGRET IT.
P.S. Get the heads taken care of as well, and have them put it together.

I agree with Frog, http://www.hughesengines.com/www/hughesengines/crank_kits/318crankkit.asp has a 390ci stroker kit with forged pistons, forged rods with arp bolts for $2004 or add $136 more and get billet H-beam rods. Thier is only the one EFI crate motor and it's not the 380hp one more like 325hp. The stroker comes with forged pistons internally balanced, while the crate motor is cast and externally balanced.
