Also, it sounds like what every ricer wants his car to sound like. STOCK. Maybe cause it is a SPORTS CAR.
P.S. You cant legally drive a Type R Civic in america-the driver's side is on the Right. Tell them that PLEASE!!!!

I've got a 1999 Ford Mondeo ST24 with right hand drive (although I'm getting rid of it for a new VW Jetta 1.8T). It's not illegal in my state. Plenty of vintage VWs running around as right hand drivers (including the '62 Bus done Cali style that I almost bought this year). Do a bit more research, that's all I ask.

Hey, Waltherone, that K-car is currently running in the mid 10's. It was still street drivable (truly a matter of perspective!) when he was in the 11's.

The "mostly imports" comment stems from the fact that most of his competition is imports.

I do not hate Hondas, or imports. I just do not like the "posers" "ricers" or whatever moniker you wish to refer to them by.

Posers have been around a long time. When I was a teenager, they were the ones who used air shocks to lift up the back end the most unlikely vehicles, such as slant-six Variants, 302 powered Torino station wagons, and the like. They would also plaster them with decals from speed equipment that they could only dream of owning, and usually rounded out their mods with orange, white, or red painted undercarriages, cheap imitations of Cragar S/S wheels, and set of Thrush or Cherry Bomb mufflers.

In short, they would spend money that would otherwise have could gone to buying a nice, used muscle car, on an unsafe revolting POS.

They would also drive their unsafe, ugly, and loud vehicles around in a reckless manner. Sound familiar?

Remember the old adage "The more things change, the more they stay the same"?

I have a 1987 Cutlass Supreme, a roller 307-HO (high Output) 5.0 liter, headers, flowmasters, Shift Kit, 442 supension, Nascar Inspired Duals, and Holley Carb. and photos of the beast zooming around the A.T.L. CutDawg, how did you have your dual exhaust on that car?

I had a '84 Cutlass Supreme (It was traded to me for money owed to me) and those cars, (Cameros' Firebirds, Monte Carlos) did not have much room for any exhaust on the drivers side. Even the Formula Firebird had single untul the rear and the Monte Carlo SS had single then dual mufflres right before the rear axle.

Anyway, I had a tough time getting my pipe to clear under the drivers seat without hanging too low. I had duals from the headers back. I used Monte Carlo SS tailpipes which were a direct fit from my mufflers back.

I had pulled the 3.8 Liter (273 V6) and dropped in a 4 bolt 350 I had lying around. It wasn't too built up but it had a Comp Cams 280H cam, Holley 650 Double Pumper, headers, etc and I had a 700R4 that I had to install a shift kit into and modify the govenor springs so I could get it to hold first gear through 6500 RPM's.

It ran pretty damn good for still having sh!ty highway gears. And it shifted really friggin hard under throttle. I had the lock up converter (2000+ stall unlocked) controlled by a toggle switch next to the shifter :-p

I moved to Phoenix where they have emmision laws so I got rid of it. I never got to drop in some lower gears into it to see what it could do. But I let my bro in law drive it when their car was broke down and they said it killed everything they raced at the lights (Ricers)

I was curious if you had duals from the headers back and if you had to modify the cross member. I even had to take the rear passenger floor pans and bend them up for extra exhaust clearance on mine.

Damn. I was hoping to get a reply from CutDawg about how he fit his duals on his Cutlass. In the '80's and '90's Chevy did not make any room for true duals on their cars. Ford however has always had room and often made true duals (two catylic converts, two mufflers, two pipes) on their rear wheel drives thru present today, why Chevy got stupid I don't know. Dodge, well they don't really make any more common rear wheel drive cars since the '80's unless you count the Viper, which is all but common. But now with the new Hemi that should change :-)

See. According to the Ricers performance stickers and crazy body mods are the way to go.

When I see a car like this it makes me want to puke! This is much worse than the old days when some idiot jacked up his (stock) car with airshocks and occasionally put stickers on it. He was a POSER and most people learned real fast. Even I tried that once, when I was young. Air shocks. Yeah. It transfered the weight to the front, making it really easy to burn that one back tire. Then the front control arm bushing start wearing out really fast because too much weight is on the front! But you make a mistake and quickly fix the problem.

These guys actually THINK this crap works. It's like a quick spreading copycat disease with these morons!!!

This car says "The fast and the Furious" and "Super Street" on it. I really, really hate the term "Super Street" being used by Ricers!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed this on going stupidity! Click on either Photo for more information on Ricers.

I like how all the Hondas load up on front strut bars. Why do they get front strut tower bars? ALL of them get it, or so it seems. They should really be getting a larger rear sway and strut tower bars, not front.

What you do the one end, you do to the other. For stock FWDs you want a good amount of rear stiffness.

It's like they think understeer doesn't apply to them.

xplikt, that is because they rarily pop the trunk but always have the hood popped to show off all the chrome and plastic crap under there. Thus, the STB is shown off as well. If they put a chrome hub cap on their spare doughnut tire and a rear STB maybe they'll start popping the trunk too.

Now I used to own an import but my case was a little different. I dropped it 2.25" with progressive rate drop springs. These lowered the car but also had an increased spring rate. I also had adjustable struts which allowed on-car valving adjustment. STB's, front and rear, and bigger swaybars. Then put 17's with a 40 series tire and bam road racer. Also did the exhaust and intake. Oh one last thing, this was a rear wheel drive nissan :D

Mine is on the left my friends on the right. I recently sold car after blowing the headgasket on it. Was going to do a rebuild with a T-70 and anit-lag nitrous kit, stand alone fuel system the whole nine. Should have propelled me deep in the 9's and possibly low 9's and still been street legal. For those who doubt it's already been done.

A man named Duy from TX built it and it was turning low 10's. This was full interior with a stereo system in it too. He traded the car and the new put race head, new cams, bigger shot, and did some tweaking on the suspension and is deep in the 9's. Still full interior not sure about the system though. Then theres the HKS drag car which is powered by an RB26dett. This is the motor that comes in the skyline R34's. Produces 1100hp and the car runs 7.4's with a 4 cylinder. I don't know of any hondas turning 7's yet...

Demon Dakota's right, that's a DOHC inline-6 powered with two garretts. A pretty all out motor too -- stock. You can pump like 500 horse/torque through them under stock bottom end. Those things are built to race.

Nissan's and Mazdas own jap-import racing, why the hell is everyone building up Hondas more than anything??

Nissan 240SX's are also REAR WHEEL DRIVE :-)

That's why they could be made to HOOK UP and get 10 seconds if you can get the power under the hood. Plus they have nice indipendent rear suspension. I wouldn't mind having one to REALLY build up. Because they are not much bigger than a stinkin Honda so the Ricers would like to try to play with you at the lights. But that 240SX with some power in it would kill ANY Civic they could muster up. Unless of course they drop a V8 with rear transaxle in that biatch! But then it wouldn't be a Honda :-p

Oh yeah. Has anyone ever put a V8 into a 240SX?
I know it's been done to Miata's. They made those Miata's into MONSTER MIATA's with the Mustang 5.0 drive train. Not really quick with all the traction problems, but they sure could make a big smoky burnout!!!

No, most 240s like their handling. A lot of them go to the SR20DET (2.0 +turbo) or turbo their KA24 (2.4L). Some people go to the Skyline RB25DET too. For the most part, the swap to a SR20DET is exremely common. I think on AutoTrader.com you an even find several.

Wrong brainman, very wrong.

In fact, GM owns a licence for the Rotary (Wankel) engine and even put a four-rotor 390 in one version of the 'Vette. Four rotor = holy fuk!

They used to use them in some snowmobiles, but that's all I know on that particular subject.

Several of Mazda's vehicle has rotory engines, my mom had a wagon back in the day.

Several motorcycles had one and Benz had the pimp MB C111 that had one -- collectors' item now.

Last but not least, they had huge versions of the Wankel motor in airplanes. I have several pictures of some I took at Boeing's Red Barn. Damn things made left turns a b!tch and right turns easier. Made for sh1tty dog fighters from what I remember too.

Nice lil history lesson for you. The RX-7 is just the most popular. You don't think they'd use just that style in ONE vehicle, did you?? HAHAHAHAHA!!
