You might already have one-can't remember if the hybrid fan went into production in 00 or 01. Look thru the viscous fan (with the engine NOT running) at the back side of the radiator, it's real obvious if it's there. I put my viscous fan back on only when the temp gets into the upper 90s and only for A/C idle performance.

I recently replaced the original fan clutch on my '01 4.7 with an Imperial brand from Advance Auto Parts. It was $99 instead of $300+ from Dodge. The Imperial lighter weight, too. I tried the "total removal" mod for about 1 month, but the engine temp would slowly creap up in stop-n-go traffic or up mountains. The main bearing in the original was shot at 160K. I'm still looking for a lightweight fan blade replacement. The bolt circle on the clutch fan is larger than the aftermarket fans. Ultimately, I want to add another electric fan, and remove the clutch fan.

Flex-a-lite makes a high-performance fan that should work well for you. Some people on this forum have used it with good results.

I relocated my Fan clutch/fan to the shelf on my garage in late 01, I have an 01 model 4.7, manual tranny, quad cab.

I also installed the 180 t-stat.

I live in a VERY hot climate, and it never gets hot. In the worst stop and go, it rarely goes to 1/2 way.

AND, I picked up some Tq, HP by removing the rotating weight.
