I have a 02 4.7. It only has 1000 km on it. I have 2 questions...
1) When I turn left or right and go into the driveway or any bump there is a noise at the front of the truck. It kinda sounds like rubber rubbing against metal or something. very odd.
2) If I am slowly moving like aroun 5km an hour and I tap on the breaks to come out of my driveway the brakes make a loud sound. Is that normal?
Any help would be appreciated. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks!

The first one kind of sounds like a ball joint to me. As for the brakes, mine were pretty loud and 'grabby' for the first thousand miles or so until they 'wore in'.
I'd get that front-end pop looked at though.

Well, its a Dakota the brakes will make noise. Its not there most of the time, but you'll notice it after the rains (or if its just damp out) and generally only if your lite on the brakes.
As for that other noise, sounds like my truck right now, and I am going in for upper and lower ball joints (front right) this Friday. Dakotas are unfortunetly also known for ball joints. My friend got his 2000 Dak and at 4000km he had his ball joints changed. I atleast have 45000km on mine. You should have them check it out, you can do it yourself, but you have to jack from the lower control arm (which loads the spring) and with the tire in the air shake the tire left and right then up and down to see if it apears loose or to make a noise. If its not that maybe they added something new in 2002 to annoy Dakota drivers.
