I have a 2003 silverado 2wd with the 4.3 auto... i hooked bumpers to my buds 03 4.7 4wd. on dry pavement i dragged his piece of sh!t... Dodges suck. obviously the 4.7 is a gutless piece of crap engine, when it gets outpulled by a v6 fullsize pickup! JUNK!

WOW JOHNY, I'm impressed. But did you stop to think that the 4.7 had too much torque and couldn't get traction and that's why you drug him?
Now I guess i'll have to go post on some random chevy board how I killed a 3500HD 4wd in the 1/4 mile with my 3.9 v6 QC.

wow you really think you accomplished something didnt you. lets compare apples to apples what is the wieght of your "Full Size" Silverado and now how about the "Mid Sized" Dakota. its like putting an 800lb sumo wrestler up against a 250lb agerage guy. there is no comparison now get a colorado to do the same thing then you might have something.

They "don't suck" as far as I'm concerned. Mine has done everything i've asked of it and has given me, so far 105k miles of trouble free service. Hey, dodge is not the only brand of truck I've owned. I have owned GMC's in the past. One was an '83 and I wished I had never gotten rid of it. The other was a '96 and I wound up getting rid of that POS before the 3yr/36k warranty was up. As I've always said, No matter what brand you buy, you will eventually hit a lemon.
But you know, opinions are like, well you know the rest. So you should have known what to expect coming on a Dodge Dakota board and degrading our chosen brand of truck. Now just go back to your little Chevy world and disappear into the night quietly. I promise you, You won't ever, ever see me on a Chevy board. I can't stoop that low.

I just filled my Dak. 96 4x4 5sp V8 @ 21mpg. mixed driving. 225k miles on it too.

I would never believe for a second, that your 96 v8 is getting that kind of mileage. i had the same truck, in perfectly maintained condition with way less miles and it guzzled gas.
in stock form, a silverado with a 4.3, 4,8, or 5.3, easily gets way over 20mpg.
