Hey guys, new to the board and need some help...I've got a 97 dakota with a 3.9 V6, well, i'm having problems with it starting, at first, I thought it was the battery but tried jumping it and it still wouldn't start....if I give it gas, it will start, but as soon as you let off the pedal, it dies again....acts like its not gettin any juice....does this sound familiar to anybody? I thought it was a filter or pump problem, but after reading a few of the posts on here, I'm kinda lost....need help please!!!

Try replacing the battery...a bad battery will make it do all sorts of weird things.

Check your TPS throttle position sensor drivers
side of TB center wire and ground should read
.3 to .7 key on engine off go up when throttle
is opend and always return to low volts

IAC idle air control back of TB if this is not
lifting off the seat it will do exactly what you
described,

#20 or #25 torx bit remove and clean with carb
cleaner also spray out the seat it goes in do not
pull push or twist the valve

if that dont cure it replace it this needs to be
open off the seat to start if its not you will
have to hold gas pedal down a little to start

Check for possible vacume hoses that may have come loose, sometimes this will cause it to die if you let off the gas pedal. The other suggestions are good to check. Go for the obvious stuff, first. Give the engine compartment a good visual check, then do what Larry suggests.
