Not trying to go off topic here. I think you're talking about having to pull the EGR system and know it can be done with a modification to the intake manifold. So I can't really answer your question that well.

What I can do is advise you to think twice about the shortys. I know several people that were dissatisfied by the (lack of) performance gain. On the 3.9's (especially the early 90's ones), the stock manifold flows quite nicley and respondes well to just opening up the exhaust from the manifold back. In fact there are some people that swap to the 90 manifolds for a performace gain. If you really want headers, you're going to want a long pipe header. The longer your pipes before colminating, the higher you can maintain exhaust exit speeds. This helps to deepen your low end. Problem is, the stock y pipe no longer works, so you need a custom exhaust from the headers back.

Just giving you a bit of fair warning so you don't go and spend a lot of cash getting headers + EGR to work and not feel much performance increase.

The headers will bolt right up to the stock y pipe
and most aftermarket headers also have all the connections to reinstall all the factory stuff

Air pump
EGR tube

all on the replacement headers they are a direct
bolt in.

You can remove the air pump and all its tubes
with no ill effects to the running of the motor
but do hook up the EGR

And on the throttle body injection trucks they
do help performance and gas mileage

On the mags no gains untill you also do the
intake side

were these guys get there info I do not know I
have installed many on the pre 88 carbed 3.9's
88 to 91 throttle body injection and the mags
and all bolted right in and EGR tube provisions
are right on the headers.

If you can find the summit ones for your truck
they also came with a new bigger y pipe

Does Summit make headers for a 93 V6? All I could find was JBA's. I wanted to shop around for the best deal, but JBA is all I have found.

No the summit or eldabrock were for the pre mag

JBA mag 92 and up, there was 1 other company but
cant remember off hand who it was

The JBA's are nice headers thicker 16 guage pipes
and they stand behind there products.

they bolt right in replacing the cast iron units
and come with all the bolts and the EGR tube
gasket for your 93, they look good under the hood
and give you a better sound

Than when you do the intake side bigger TB and
cold air you will notice the gains a lot more
espesialy if you also use a low restriction cat
like the carsound and a good muff like dynomax
17748 or a flowmaster 40 or 50 they sound great

I had mine for like 6 or 7 years now and they hold
up good the reg are chrome nickle plated so they
do not rust to fast after 7 years I have just a
very little rust but I also drive on a lot of
salted roads every winter

my opinion well worth the $330 they cost ceramic
coating is better and will retain more heat and
give you a little better performance with the
iron heads but to me not worth the extra $200
