Have 2000 Dakota Sport, V6 auto 2WD. Just started to shift erratically (66000 miles on truck). Won't start out in low sometimes. Other times revs to 5000-5500 before shifting. Check engine light is on and codes are 0138, 1763, 1762 in that order. Do I just need a trans fluid and filter change or is this a more serious problem. Would appreciate any help before taking it to a shop and getting soaked.

Have you tried looking on-line for the codes?

It sounds like it could be a sensor issue. Mine did the same thing.

0138 O2 Sensor Circuit High Voltage (Bank 1 Sensor 2) LOL 66,000 Replace the o2

1763 Governor Pressure Sensor Volts Too High

1762 Gov Press Sen Offset Volts Too Low or high

physicly check all the connections from the trans
reset your computer and try again.

If the codes return and the trans acts up you need
to replace the presure sensor and all will return
to normal

Thanks Larry. The first thing I did was check all connections to trans and they were OK. Will have the sensors checked out.
