I've read through a few threasd talking about their fan working but not producing hot air, haven't found any that cover my problem.

Im getting the same amount of air blown in (which is close to none) on each of the fan levels. On the freeway, i tend to get enough hot air to heat up the cab (which is just air blowing through and getting heated up on the way in) -- rpm's don't change anything, just overall speed. Im thinking the fan is ...dead? Is the installation a hassle? 3.9 v6 stick

My fan was blowing only on the high setting. I replaced the resistor pack for the fan and now it works fine. You might have the same problem but your fan is blowing on low no matter what the setting.
The resistor pack on my 2001 is located under the glovebox in the vent plumbing, older trucks have it mounted on the firewall in the engine compartment.
It's worth a try, the part only cost $16 Can.

I have a 1996 Dodge Dakota 3.9 V6 (Mag). I was wondering what the heck is wrong with my fan blower (heater & air cond). Sometimes it works, and mostly it doesn't. Is there a short? Or should I try the resistor pack? And where is it located? Any input would help.....it's getting cold, need my heater. Thank You!

I think the resistor pack is on the firewall in the engine compartment on the passenger side on your truck. It may well be the problem, my fan worked only intermitently before it would only blow on high.
The pack looks like a credit card with a mounting bracket and a plug for the wiring harness on one end.
Must be a common problem, the dealer had four of them in stock when I bought the part.

Good luck.

Hi Jer,
Yes.....Thank you so much! I found the resistor pack right where you said it was. Two of the terminals on it was burned up (right to the blower fan) had to order the part, but that's o.k. (should be in today) I guess they ran out ;)
I'm a happy camper! KEEP ON TRUCKIN.....DAKOTAS RULE!
Thanks Again, ~Bambi~
