Subject: oil temp gauge install
IP: Logged

Message:
I am thinking of adding an oil temp gauge on my 2000 3.9 and am wondering if anyone else had added this gauge? Where did you put the temp sender? It's supposed to be submersed in the oil and the only place for that is to drill a hole in the oil pan and weld in a bung. That requires dropping the pan and I don't want to do that. The only other place I can see to put it (unsubmersed) is by the distributor where it looks like the oil pressure sensor is - but the quarters are tight.
Anyone have other suggestions?

i wouldn't do it, there isn't any need to know the temp of the oil anyways, and if you are worried about it get a cooling system for it instead of putting a rinky dinky gauge that tells you a number you really dont know piss about. :(

Go to a dual oil filter setup. There is connections for a pressure and a temperature gauge. Best other place is the oil pan, It's alot of work. Though I do agree there is little need of a temp gauge, but you got to do what you got to do. Good luck.
