i hate to bother you but does anybody out there make something that can change our rev limit, shift points, or max speed? any of the above? also, do you think those heads i was talking about would be worth $100? i know they are bare except the exhaust valves but fully ported and the works!

thanx,
intense

do you mean to have my original pcm re-programmed?
if that's what you are talking about, do you know a place that does that....my truck seems as though it would make a lot of power past that darned 5200 shift point!

thanx

The engine may feel like it wants to make more power, but the stock cam falls off at 4800-4900rpm. There's no need to spin the engine past 5200rpm.

I know of three places that will custom program the PCM. Mike Leach, KRC, and B&G.

those three will reprogram the v6 unit also? I thought I heard leach didnt mess with v6's for "lack of demand"

The PCM for the V6 and V8 is identical...the "demand" isn't there but the code is the same.

About $400 on the average. Just changing the speed/rev limiter is the same basic cost as having some custom "tweaks" put into the PCM program. Since they're the only ones who do this type of work...they can charge the money for it.

I own a 2002 Dodge 5.9 R/T. I have the same problem with the exception my engine is still producing power when the rev limiter stops it.
Seems like Dodge forgot why people buy these trucks in the first place. If I direct wire around the limiter, what problems will that cause? Is that a good move? Or ares the only other course of action I have is to reprogram it or not put the pedal to the floor?
