I bought my truck used with 42k on the speedo.
I kinda got the feeling the engine has been replaced.
Is there anyway I can tell for sure it has the original engine?

Well I took a look see, and I can't seem to find anything that would look like a engine code.
My Haynes manual shows a poor pic of where it should be. Front left on the engine. ( I think it was a pic of a V-8). Mine is a 3.9 V-6.
I found some numbers or codes on the head between the sparkplugs, but I don't think that's it.
Could it be under the a/c pump?
I was hoping you could give me a little more detail.
The reason I'm so interested is because with only 49k on the truck. I just repaired the oil pump pick up screen that was clogged. While I had the pan off there was allot of sludge build up in the pan and the bottom side of the engine. Plus there's allot of dried up leafs on the engine. Like it's been sitting outside for awhile.

Poor maintenance and using bad oil (Penzoil) can cause sludge build-up earlier than that. I hope you went with a engine flush after replacing the Oil Pan & synthetic oil from now on.

No I didn't do an engiane flush, If all that sludge breaks loose, who knows where it might end up. Might plug an oil gallery.
I'm thinking one of these days of pulling the engine and rebuilding it. Maybe put a mild cam and roller rockers, and porting the heads.
As far as motor oil all I use is Mobile 10w-30.
I bought a new Honda in 1990 and only used Mobile in it. The car had 130k on it when I sold it and it would take about 1000 miles before the oil would start looking black. The same can also be said about the Astro I had, it had 150k when I sold it.
Neither car every used oil or leaked.
So I'm very happy with Mobil as you can tell.
