Howdy,
I recently replaced the timing chain on my 95 V6 club cab, also did Accel rotor, cap, plugs, and wires, new 195 degree thermostat and Gibson 3inch cat back.
I seem to have a spark knock now with 89octane gas. It is most noticeable at highway speed, light throttle, if I coast or floor it, it goes away. It's been about 300 miles now and the PCM has not "learned" anything to help. Using 93 octane seems to eliminate it, but is expensive. The truck used to run fine on 89.
I wonder if this really is spark knock and if so, how can the timing be adjusted without a $100 trip to the dealer.

Spark knock can be a pleasant sound, It tells you that you have
some timing.
Try and get rid of it and run it.
First try a set of colder plugs,
I am running the AP3923 Autolite gaped at .050 with the MSD
Coil and 6a box, I was running a set HALO H9a and they ran
Great but was getting some detonation.
Check your tps voltage and adjust your trans to run the
rpm a little higher and you will appreciate that extra timing.
Consider a 180 thermo.

Thanks for the tips, I will try the plugs and t-stat .... I guess I am more worried about something that might have gone wrong on the timing chain swap ... I don't know much about the PCM and it's possible need to be "flashed" or modified somehow.
