Subject: New hemi in Dakota IP: Logged
Message: I have just recently bought a new hemi crate motor, and i have plans to drop it into my 97 dodge dakota extended cab, i plan on changeing my whole drive train, i was just wondering if there are any motor mounts out yet for the swap or if i will have to custom the whole job, either way i want it to be different, I plan on leaving the V6 decals on just for fun. If anyone has done this before or knows of it being done i would apreciate the info.
I plan on smoking an R/T, thats my goal at least

Message: I can't help you at all, but kick some ass with that thing! Definitely leave the V6 decals on... or put on something that insinuates you got a 4 banger so you really make the driver of that R/T flip out.

Message: thatsd taking it a step further than i was going to do with my 87, i was gonna put a 340 in it, but check schumacher creative services for the mounts, but you will pay out the a$$ for them

Message: Hey Killa,
If you don't mind me being nosey, where did you get the Hemi and what did you pay? What do you plan to put behind it? I'm torn between the 5.7 Hemi, a built 360 or trying to shoehorn a V10 from a Ram in there. The V10 is definitely the hardest and most expensive, the Hemi the most cutting edge and the 360 the best bet right now.

Message: In response i got the new hemi from a buddy of mine through the dealership he works at, i am not supposed to say the price but i will say it was resonable, about what i am putting behind it, i was thinking a jet performance tranny but i am not to sure about how much money i want to spend, or take out on loan, and for a diff i was thinking about a ford 9 inch but i really am not sure, but opinions are welcome. i was also thinking about doing a built 5.9 with a super but i want to be different, but i like the idea about the V 10, that would be crazy and i would love to see it done, its all about the huge power in the small truck.
Thanks for the info

Message: Forget beating R/T's... find a lightning, make him think youve got a i4, then let them roll on the line just to get a good reaction. Ever seen an i4 with 345hp? >:)
With a good traction control system, youd kill a lightning because of the weight diffence id bet. keep up informed!

Message: you can use a chrysler 8 3/4 rear or a dana 60, the dana is basically bulletproof, and the 8 3/4 can be made bulletproof easily, plus (im not sure about 3rd gen) but a b-body 8 3/4 rear axle fits perfectly under the 1st and second gen dakotas, even keeps the wheels in the wells
