question about a swap

are 5.2 and 5.9 from dodge vans the same 5.2 and 5.9 in the trucks?

also how much are engine mounts?

u need a new trannie right? internal balance vs external?

As far as I know all Dodge mag V8's are the same (long block wise). They may have a few differences accessory wise.

I havent totally researched engine mounts yet but I have seen a few posts stating that mag V8' simply bolt in a V6's bay, dont know about this one though, if they did why would Hughes be chargin so much for 4cyl&V6 conversion kits to V8?

And lastly and this is totally my opinion and lots on here disagree.
You CAN use a V6 tranny. I do recommend a good rebuild with HP parts but if you dont race the truck all the time it will hold up, granted not as long as a tranny that came behind a V8.
Do you have a auto or stick? if auto than you most likely have an A500 or 44re, if either than you basically have an old school 904 with an OD unit on the tail end in that let me tell you that 904's ARE faster (lighter reciprocating mass) and can be made just as strong as 727's (there the equivalent to an A518 or 46re for V8's).
If you go with a 5.9 you will need an externally ballanced converter or flywheel.

Take this all as I said "my opinion".

for the genIII's its just a bolt in item... you can even use the same motor mounts as the V6... now i dont know about the genIIs but the genIs require that expensive kit.

Short Block=block and internal parts only.
Long block=all above plus heads and most time timing cover and w/p.

if it were me I would stay with auto then your swap would be alot cheaper and simpler but yes you could put a stick in, bellhousing, clutch, flywheel, pedal, linkage and slave if there hyd system, Im not sure if they are or not.
Also, if you switch to stick you will probably have to have the driveshaft modified.

Thx for your input Greg, if its a bolt in for Gen3's it should be for Gen2 mag equipped Dak's also because a Gen2 3.9 will bolt right in a Gen3 that had a 3.9.
