'99 Dakota Club 4x4. Anyone have trouble with Upper A-Arm Bushings, Driver-side? 23,000 mi. but have a good extended warranty and the repairs are covered. Sounds like a creaky bed going down the road!

I hear the same thing on my 99 3.9L, but I only have 19,500 miles. Always wondered what that was. Any easy way of fixing this?

When you press down on the bumper, driver's side,
bad squeak from front upper A-arm bushing. The upper bushings need to be replaced, (pressed out with a press.) Front end also needs new alignment
after replacement. Should be done by alignment shop with right equipment. $140-$180 around here. Really embarassing to drive down the road with it making all that noise. All the silicone in the world won't make it quiet. 2nd owner, original warranty over on time, but when I purchased the
vehicle through a dealer, bought extended warranty to extend original warranty another 5 years and 60,000 miles.

Searching the rest of this site, and alldata.com, I notice there are 3 technical service bulletins out on the '99 Dodge Dakota, 2-5-99, Front Hub - Squeak or Creak Noise, 19-04-00, Steering Column, Squeaking/Creaking Noise, and 2-11-98, Alignment, Specification Correction. Anyone know what the Correction is on Alignment?

My father-in-law is a certified mech. I had the same noise from the A-Arm. It was under warrenty. Anyway when he looked at it he found that there was not a drop of grease in the ball joints and that was on both sides. So he replace the uppers and also peeled the rubber back on the lowers and added more grease. Just like new.Oh front end alignment is needed when they are replaced. DUH!

Anyway was gonna tell ya all i also had a bad popping when i turned sharp and pulled into a slight incline, left or roght turn. So he and i took the body mounts loose greased them up and the poping is gone. And those damn a- arms without the grease WELL they were factory hehe only 20,000 on my truck.

Just found out it wasn't the upper A-arm bushings
after all but upper and lower ball joints on the driver's side ($309 including alignment). After
reading the recall site on this website, it won't be long before the passenger side probably goes as well. If you havn't purchased your extended
warranty, you'd better think about it soon or start saving now.
