You should be able to pull yours out and install one from the same generation RT assuming that the spring perches measure out the same, (they should). As for the computer, I believe it should just compensate for the difference, kind of like changing tire sizes. The only exception to this is if you have a 4x4, if you do, make sure to change both front and rear axles at the same time, (same ratio), otherwise the transfer case will not be happy.

It should bolt right up, however, if the u-joint size is different (I'm not sure about the R/T) then you will need to change the yoke on the rear axle, that basically means removing the pinion yoke nut, swapping out the yokes, and replacing the nut, make sure to check a shop manual for proper procedure and torque specs, but all that is necessary only if the yokes are different sizes.
