What grade of oil did you put in ?
Sounds like you may have put 20 W 50 ??

With a 99 10 W 30 should be sufficient !

Get another oil filter, 10w-30 oil, and a can of Seafoam.
Use the Seafoam to clean and flush the engine.
Then new oil and filter, and see what the pressure is.
If it is still low, you have a real problem.
Maybe bad sludge, or a bad oil pump.
Could also be the pressure sending unit.

Don't do anything until you use a mechanical gauge.
Your engine runs at low pressure, in spite of what the electric gauge on your dashboard says.
Find out the actual parameters of the 99 engine.
The 3.9 runs from 8 to 10 lbs at idle, 20 lbs up at 2,000 RPM.

8 to 10 at idle man that is a slopy motor should
be 30 40 at idle 40 50 normal over 1000rpm

replace the sending unit located behind thethrottle body right in front of the dist they
go bad some even begain to leak

the one in my truck reads 20 running 50 when it
idles works backwards LOL

with the mech guage 40 idle 50 to 60 running this
motor has 115,000 miles on it

K&N HP2004 filter royal purple 10w30 oil

or you have cheap oil go to walmart and get a 5qt
of catroil GTX for like $8 this is an excellent
oil for the price we run all the rebuilt motors
3 to 6,000 miles on castroil than switch to a
good syn

I think he is asking about OVER pressure during driving and normal pressure at idle... not LOW pressure ....
