Hello my name is Jonathon and i have a 1994 Ram (sory)with the 3.9 V6 and the other day I was doing a donut in gravel at about 4,000 rpm and the engine backfired really loud then started to die. After that the engine came back to life. Anyone know what this backfire could have been from?

Check your exhaust coolant resivoir located next to the fuel filter > If its low, you'd better fill it quick or you will find this backfire to be more severe next time

They didnt stay in production for long.. maybe from 90 to 95..96... Its a small tank located beside the fuel filter and should have a run-over hose hanging a few inches below the bottom frame railing. Good luck!

hmmm i get a backfire too with my truck
but it doesnt appear when i do doughnuts

i think its pretty normal, when im climbing up the rpms in 2nd
gear probably around 45 - 4800, I let off the gas and keep it in
2nd letting the high rpms slow me down, as the rpms decrease
theres usually a series of pops or back fires

isnt that the unburned fuel being sparked?

and what could fix this or make it better?
...ignition
