Hello, I have a 1989 Dakota long bed. It is just a 2 wheel drive. I am trying to find out the specs on the 3.9L cam. Does anyone know or does anyone know where to look? I have searched for several days and have not been able to find it. The Dodge house here has the part number 4448304 but no other information on it. I have the service manual but was unable to find it in it either. Thanks for any information that you can provide.

Try the mopar performance catalog, I think the spects may be in there. If not, you will definately find a cam kit for your motor. That is where I got mine from.

Hope that is of some help

Thats the reason I was looking for the stock specs. There are two cams. I am wanting to see how they compaire to the stock. I will have to rebuild my engine and wanted to see if it was worth upgrading the cam. I know that there are several things that I can bolt on to get a little more power. Just wanted to see if I could get some more with a cam with out getting stupid.

hi guys,
whats up with this cam stuff? I inderstand its job in the eninge, but just how much performance do you get from a mild cam? Is it worth the effort with our small 3.9Ls? I have a 1990 dak 2wd, K&N, headers, jacobs ignition etc., flowmaster duals. Is the cam thing for me? Thanks.

Good question Joe, I'm kinda interested in that myself. By the way, did you ever tear out the air pump and pollution control stuff?

The cam plays a large part in your engine. It is one of the primary determinations on how well your engine will run. As for effort, I am rebuilding the engine anyway. The cam will be replaced. If I can upgrade at that point there is no extra effort involved.

Spyder, yeah I did get that smog stuff out. I cut the belt first, then removed the tubes going from the ehhaust manifolds, now headers, and pulled out the power cable, and other hoses. So now I am a polluter. Not pround but I guess it works...
Gus, thanks for the info on the cam. How much HP does it produce when you install a performance cam? Thanks...
Joe E.

its electronic controled by the comp if you have the comp with the double connectors check the small one for breaks in the first two wires (green and orange I think been a bit) thats what did mine in I had to replace the whole clip sense the connectors are molded in the plastic. if its the single connector I'm not sure.

It used to be that when I would kick in my 4wd, it would take about 10-15 miles down the road before I would have 4x4. Now nothing happens at all. Can anyone tell me what I need to do, or where to start analyzing this problem from to rectify it.

thanks
