Subject: 91 Dakoda Sinking Brake pedal
IP: Logged

Message:
1991 Dodge Dakoda, V-6 standard, the brake pedal is spongy and sinks, nothing is leaking, pulled all wheels no cylinder leaks. Bled all wheels 4 times, strange thing is the front resouvor keeps going low and back to full again, dropps down about 1/2".
When truck is on a hill at a stop light, that is when the pedal sinks the most.
Very puzzeling. HELP
Thanks

Yep, master cylinder, exactly how my '91 acted. Would be sitting at a stop light and it would slowly drop to the floor, had to pump it up to get a firm pedal, then it would slowly drop again.

Thanks, I was not sure if it was the master cylinder or something to do with the rear anti-lock brakes.
I never had a truck with anti-lock brakes before and thought it may have something to do with that, being that the fluid level keeps changing from hi to low.
One other question, how do I break loose the nut on the master cylinder, the nut is free but the tubing rolls with the nut?
I don't want to have to replace the tubing way down at the "block" on the chassis.
Thanks.
