I have a 04 club cab with bucket seats with no senter console whatsoever. Its a stick so there is a partial one around the gear shift. Basically its a cup holder and change tray. Has anyone bought an aftermarket console for their ride?? Right now I have a cheesy old cheby one that a found in my friends trash/parts heap. Oh and no need for some type of sub console I have a thunderform that I'm happy with.

I'm not too sure, but I think that the early gen III console should fit, the one from the pre-2001 is a short center console, the later, 2001-2003 (2004?) is a longer console, with the front being about a 1 to 1 1/2 foot longer. I'm looking at these, from my search for a console for my 01. those are the two main floor consoles that were offered, outside of the little front piece you're talking about, which was installed on mostly the bench seat types. I'm neck deep into this search, as I just bought some viper seats, and I have a bench seat right now, so I'm looking through EVERYTHING consoles for the daks now. try this, www.moparpartz.com, they give a reference of what years a selected part was installed on dodge/jeep/chrysler vehicles, the consoles are listed under "collision" parts... it won't show what years will fit other vehicles though, and I've even heard that the durango consoles will fit the dakotas. I'd think that the 98-2000 console would work out, and you can find em from 35-75 through salvage or on ebay. www.car-part.com is a great salvage site, and I'd think that for the effort, it'd be easier to go with a premade part that try to fabricate your own, unless you're going for a custom built look. HOpe all this bantering helps ya!

Thank you

I'll deffinatly check into it. I'm glad I have the buckets it just looks bare without anything there. And the cheby one works for now, but looks pretty silly in a new truck. Well kind of new got it last July with 11 miles on it...........now 17,000. I guess I like driving it.

Between my buddy and I we have done a lot with Dakota consoles. In his 98 5 speed, he was able to get one to go where his center seat was after he put racing seats in. We got it from a durango and it was really weird, he had a little piece on his existing console that surrounds his shifter that looked like it was for change, we pulled just that little piece off and the durango console slid into that spot like it was made for it, even had a screw that needed to be put into it that was there??? You would think the colsole came in the truck if it wasnt for the little vents for rear heat in the back. As for my truck I am in the final process of building my custom console. It is all fiberglass hand laid, which has an Alpine Type X molded in, also has Alpine DVD player, two gauges and ipod all molded in, came out real good.

I made my own in a 99 c.c after installing racing buckets. Just used some cardboard for templates, then traced onto some plywood.
