Hey, has anyone tried putting on their own tint? i see the rolls of tint for like 20 bucks, and it can be a couple hundred to have it installed so I'd like to save the cash if possible. Some of my friends have told me it's a bad idea becuase it will bubble. I have the extended cab, and the side windows in the back are slightly tinted, but i'd like it darker then that.

LOL

I tried a couple times and could not get the " factory " look. Always ended up with a bubble that wouldn't come out or a crease somewhere.

Found a pro in my area and it only cost 45$ for the back window. Came out perfect and has a lifetime guarrantee.

1. Get some 50 cent poster board from Wal-Mart 2. Make a template of the driver side window 3. Cut the tint film in the shape of your template *NOTE* Flip you template for the passenger side 4. Spray the inside of the window with windex 5. Scrape the windex off with a sharp razor blade to clean the window 6. Respray the window with windex (be sure to spray the whole window) and apply the film with the windex still on the window. 7. Squeegee the film flat and trim the edges with a razor blade *TIP* take the door panel off and roll the window down 1/2" before starting - And that is how the pros do it. If you mess up the first roll a second is still cheaper than someone else doing it. Man hours to complete = Less than 1 (give yourself 2 if its you first time)

I think you should get it professionally done. Doing it yourself takes a lot of skill to get the bubbles out and the creases. In my area it's only 100 dollars to get the back window tinted, all side windows and a tint band across the front. Just save up some more money and let someone else do it because it gets very fustrating. If you are going to do it, use a little bit of soapy water to help you get it positioned right and use a squegee to get the bubbles out. Sometimes they will pop the really small bubbles with the tip of the razor.
