I am going to put a bodylift on my 94 4x4 3.9 dakota, will a 3" work with it? I put one on my previous dak (1988 4x4) myself and worked fine, but that was a GEN I truck, I have looked for a 3" for the 94 but no luck, truckaccessories makes a 2" but no a 3", sooo I was thinking of getting a generic 3" like I used on my 88 and use that, I wonder why they dont make them for the 94's, although I have seen numerous trucks with the 3" that were 91-96's, anyway, any input would be great on this matter. Also anything to watch out for while the install or should I pay the 300 labor and let shop do it?? Thanks

I have the 2" Body lift and it was easy to install but it took some time.. You will have problems with the middle cab bolts. and the rad shroud has to be cut. A 3" lift would make for more problems in my opinion. My brake lines and tranny lines were streched out pretty good and alot of the cowl was cut to match for the 2" lift.

Trail Master does carry a 3" body lift for the '91-'96 Dakota, because I just purcased one for $87.00. It reqiures the fan shroud to be altered and some dak's require a metric extension for the fourwheel drive lever.

forgo all that and make your own. i have a 92 and i made a body lift for it about 3 years now. and have had no problems with it. and it cost me $25 dollers canadian that's like $5 U.S. (heh heh). all i used was 3'by 2' square tubing. cheap and works great. the rest of the truck is metal why not use it for the body lift.

^^^ That is why body lifts have a bad name. A piece of square tubing will bove around on you and won't distribute the load over the mounting surface. Homemade body lifts are illegal in all states. Cough up the 100 bucks and get a kit. It's like the guys who try to save $$$ by towing in overdrive. Wow a couple extra gallons of gas at $1.50 are saved but next thing you know you have a $1500 transmission to buy!

how could the piece of square tubing move around when it is bolted to the body and the fram. and the weight is distribute over the complet mounting surface. it is cut to be the same sizes so it works great. take it from me this truck has a lot of miles with this body lift and a lot of it is off roading aswell.

I have a 94 dakota sport, and I have 33/12.50 coursier mt's on my truck with a 3 inch body lift. now I do have the torsion bars cranked with a 1.5 inch add-a-leaf in the back. There was just a little bit of trimming needed.
