Subject: water on my z-tube IP: Logged
Message: After installing my z-tube and taking off the rubber flap that is on the right side of the radiator, my K&N filter gets a little wet when it sprinkles or I go through a large puddle. Can this hurt my filter or would I need to oil it more?

Message: I have a 00 cc 4x4 with the 4.7. This mod should not void any warranties unless any damage that is caused can be directly blamed on the z-tube.

Message: The Z-tube is not CARB certified, be interesting to see what a garage says during a state emissions test from the results and/or just popping the hood and looking at it (I've heard the K&N filter is carb approved, the z-tube filter looks a bit like a K&N)...hope to hear some feedback on this before May of 2002.
You noticed water on your filter? I drove in a thunderstorm and popped the hood, everything appeared dried, even with the rubber flap removed...perhaps the residual engine heat dried everything up and/or the location of the filter (pointing down) kept it dry...a little extra oiling won't hurt the filter probably but water into the TB is a bad thing.
