Alright...so the good people of Dodge of Bellvue (WA) finally managed to track down the right truck for me. 2003 Dak Quad Cab 4x4 - 4.7L Auto (not manual due to med. reasons) 3.92 posi...fully loaded SLT Plus. Now I realize this isn't exactly the ideal platform for a super-fast ride...but I'm gonna go for it anyway. So I need to know...who makes the best chip/reflash and what do you reccomend for the cold air intake? Anybody got a setup that works particularly well?

Hate to burst your bubble, but there is next to nothing for a 03 for the computer, Kenny Bell optimizer is it as far as I know, and the intake will do little or nothing with out bigger mods, like a larger throttle body, H.O. cams, intake, exhust ect. Good luck though.

No...no bubble bursted. I realize it's a big heavy beasty and will never be able to able to keep up with the other ponies in the stable ('66 GTO and '91 Acura Legend). But I still would like it to at least SEEM a little on the quick side. So assuming that I dump the exhaust out right after the 3rd cat, and I get a kenny bell optimizer for the computer...what's my best bet as far as intake and TB?

Since you've got two other cars i'm guessing you've got the cash to spend. Get a 70mm F&B throttle body and a 4" z-tube w/ 9in. pro flow fliter. Then get the H.O. cams (or the KRC 206 cams) and intake(intake is optional). Get a magnaflow cat-back or custom duals with 2.5" pipes and magnaflow mufflers. They are about the quietest that still provide good power (straight thru design). Flowmaster is the loudest. Replace the 3rd cat with a straight pipe or a carsound cat if you have emmissions to worry about. Don't worry about headers yet because Demondak has long tube headers in the works that will make more power than the shorties that are available today. And beef up your suspension some. Get some anti-sway bars and some better shocks. Maybe even the roadmaster active suspension.

I've added some power to my truck but can't even use it all because of my lack of traction and suspension. Thats coming very very soon though.

I've spent $8K in R&D so far...what a total PITA this is going to be. The first rough set were only a modest improvement (12HP average/19TQ average across the entire RPM range), with a peak of 21HP at 5200 RPM. The average gains were pretty good across the low and mid range RPM points (2000-3500), which is exactly where I calculated the major gains to be. We're going to do a change in collector pipe size and primary tubing size next (both up and down in size) to see what kind of numbers we come up with, then back to the dyno (again). I had to buy a new computer to do all the design and approx. flow stuff as well, but it's actually kinda fun (except for the $ part)...

Hey Demon,

When did you put the 70mm Fastman on? Did you notice any bogging of the engine when you put it on? I am thinking about going with the 70mm and was wondering if there is much gain over the Fastman 68? What do you think? I have my insurance taken care of for the rest of the year, now I am getting 4.10 gears front and rear. Then maybe a little NX kit, give me an e-mail when the header thing works out, I would like some for the NX and the Kenny Bell down the road. Would you be able to get them ceramic coated? That would be cool if they were.

Later,

Andrew
