Hi Ya,
I know this chat started off with the 4.3 S-10 but I have to comment.
I have had two 4.3 S-10 Blazers and really liked them, made a really good little SUV, enough power to get there and back.
I started drag racing when most of yall were not even thought of. Long ago when the "light" was a guy with a red flag, do any remember those times?
As most of us know, family and duty comes first.
I started racing again in brackets with a POS NOVA (SB), my kids (2 boys and 1 girl)and I had a great time. I can look back on it as some of our best times we have ever had.
We grew a few years till we (I said WE) were running S/G. We had a winning car in NHRA (DIV 4) and ISCA and we met tons of great people on our way.
I guess what I am trying to say, is when you look over and see a POS, don't laugh, he might take your pretty car or truck with bolt ons (LOL) and make "YOU" look like a P. O. S.

Man, here there are so many old trucks (Chevy vs Ford big time here) with monster engines and large gearing. Some might not look like much and might be entirely rust, but I've seen them keep up with late model Camaros and Mustangs.

Just so you know I am not picking on Chevys, if that 454 SS 1500 ever goes for sale down my street, it's mine. And I am a fan of El Caminos, specially in black, they just look down right mean.

Thank you IntenseDak39. What's with the new picture? Decide to enter a mud bogging contest? I've been meaning to ask you what you were doing. We don't have any mud places -- at least that I can get to -- around here. Although, I can't wait 'till the deep snow comes (we had snow on the ground this morning).

IntenseDak39, I ran the stock tires. I can't afford to race anymore though, so I'm buying a salvage 2.5RS (if I can even find one).

WOW I never thought about how much you DAK owners are so bent and clearly sceerd of the POS truck. I got on this site just messing around.But im glad i found it now when I drive my POS to my shop today ill be looking for every DAK on the road and yes the ones with the R/T on the goofy looking door big enough to kill a small horse. Im not saying I have the baddest S-10 or truck on the road ,but this intensedak39 chump thinks his POS is.Granted the Dodge Dakota is a cool truck.But you would think its just a truck. I deal with cust. like this every single day.I find it funny that peehole adults like this probly have a very low self esstem.to get on a web site and talk smack!How do we all know if we realy do have all this #### on our truck.Or is this a picture of our buddys wifes truck. Why are we so stuck on a DAK.Does it haul more hay than a S-10 or a ranger or even a 1963 datsun.NO!!!

We as mentioned before are trying to keep the conversation on the 4.3L in it's stock form. If it's such a great motor then why does one S-10 have a V8 and another No2? Which one haven't you lost in? If it's the 502 no wonder. And to trash S-10s on a dodge site isn't talking smack, to do what you are doing is talking smack. We don't go over to your forums like you S-dimers keep coming over here.

it just so happens that i have a life.... i am not cruzing the S10 forums looking to defend my truck.... i got better things to do. And you beat a new Hemi??? wow! they only put those in 3/4 ton 6000+ lb RAMS!

I don't care what you drive and how much a V-8 Dakota would smoke a V-6 S-10. Its missing two cylinders, so get over it. The only way dodge could actually out perform the new or old S-10's is by making them with a V-8. Hell, the new replacement for the S-10 is going to have a 220 hp INLINE 5 CYLINDER. So get over yourselves again. My extended cab Xtreme would smoke any V6 dakota at a glance.

Sorry to get in on this but when will you S dimes learn not to mess with daks?? I have one that i have beat numerous times and he still hasnt learned to stop talking smak and thinking he is so fast. I have supposedly the slowest V-8 dak ever produced and it i will spank the S-dimers. The funny thing is that all you S-dimers do to o has is put a big block in it like a 502 or 454. If your a lighter truck then you shouldnt need to out a big block in it or run nos to get 12's where as the dak is a heavier truck and can get a small block to run 10's-11's without NOS. Face it even back in the good ole days the Chevy crowd couldnt stand that stock out of the factory they were getting wipped by STOCK MOPARS!!!

By the way i wanted an S-10. But then i grew up!!!

My freakin' god you Dodge guy's are retarded. All I have to say is look at any s-10 forum. I have yet to come across a naturally aspirated dodge dakota that could beat my truck, with the exception of a reg. cab R/T. I raced my buddies reg. cab 5 speed 3.9 dakota and absolutely wasted him to the point it wasn't funny. for all you 3.9 guys who have beat s-10's let me let you in on a secret, a lot of S-10's come with 2.2l 4 cylinder engines, they are faster than a 2.5 dak with out a doubt. the dakota weighs 500 lbs more, has the same horsepower, and has less torque than the 2.2 s-10's
By the way, I drive a 97 S-10 SS with a K&N intake and custom Borla exhaust, and it can do mid 15's in the quarter.

You guys need to race any 4.3 s-10 with a competent driver who is actually participating in your "race"
I swear to god you guys are worse than ricers at coming up with your figures and telling stories about people you've raced.
I am also aware that there are a few exceptions, like turbocharging or supercharging your 3.9 that will give it a slight advantage over a 4.3, otherwise if you beat it it was a 2.2 or they weren't racing.
Remember that a good driver is more important in a race than a fast vehicle.

Wow there is som discussion going on here.
I just thought that I would put my two cents intot the whole thing. As you can all tell by my name I own a Syclone and a Sonoma. And of course I love them both. My Syclone has no problem running low 12's on the track and I really think that if one of you guys saw one out I am sure that they would race you, but it is arare thing to see them out. Again nothing against Dakotas especially the R/T's they are very nice looking but the motor is a boat anchor. I can never remember the factory horsepower numbers on them but I am thinking that it is around 240 and torque in the 300 hundreds. Well lets see if we add this up. I am pretty sure that it take well about 350-400 horse on the track for a 4500 pound vehicle to run 12's, that is if it hooks up. Am I right here. And I do think that a misconception with alot of guys on here is they think that they have the fastest truck but they have never taken it to the track to determine this. On the road you will seem like you are the fastest thing alive.
Alot of you guys on here I don't see alot of 1/4 times either just a bunch of sh1t talking and pissing matches. I will always love my trucks and I will never get rid of them. Now if a Hemi dakota came out that would be a good race. But I can guarantee that my Sonoma with stay with your R/T's all day long no prob. Oh by the way putting racing stripes on your R/T's doesn't make them faster.
I will tell you though that if I am in Chicago I will give mister dakota a runn for his money in my fully bagged Sonoma.
I am sure that there is going to be some more sh1t talking comments after this post but oh well. I do like the way that dakotas look but the motors suck. They take so much to make ample power out of them. That is all that I am saying. All I had to do to my Syclone is put a new ignition and chip and it beats the sh1t out of alot of stuff out there.
Have fun bitchin maybe one day a dakota will waste my ass on the road but I doubt it unless it is bloown to the hilt. And I think I read in here that someone said the Hemi only comes in 2500 series truck. So much for being a freaking Dodge fan they come in the 1500 also. Dumba$$.

I guess that I pissed in some ones wheaties. Oh and one bad Dakota no it didn't come with a grand national engine it came with a turboed 4.3 you idiot the grand had a 3.8. little difference there. I am not saying that an R/T wouldn't beat my Sonoma I said, if you learned how to read is that it would keep up. I know that there is no way in hell that your R/T would keep with my Syclone. Maybe if you put slicks on it, put it on the bottle, it may keep up. I can take my Syclone drive it to the track beat the piss out of you and be home before you have the tires changed.
Now for my Sonoma it is quick but I am not sure that it is as fast as an R/T. It has been modified a bit and the best I could get 1/4 time was 14.1. I don't think that is too shabby for a v-6 with 85,000 miles on it.
Well if you want Dyno numbers for proof I have that for bad dakota. Since I am such apiss ant.
my Sonoma,
200 @ 5500rpm at the rear wheels
290 @ 3000rpm
my syclone, with the front prop shaft off for the dyno
350 @ 5500rpm at the rear wheels going through a transfer case and all that mess
400 @ 2800rpm
Judgin by these numbers I am sure that I could be the p1ss out of you with the front driveshaft off.
Unless you tell me other wise I dont think that there is any way that you Dakota is turning numbers like the Syclone, probably more closer to my sonoma.
But you are probably one of those guys that thinks the numbers that Dodge puts out are to live by and that it means what is getting planted to the ground.
Really if you read in the post that I put I wasn't trying to piss anyone off as afi360 read into it a little more. Just ruffle feathers. Have fun one bad Dakota in your dream land that you live in. I am going to take my piss ant self back to my forum.

When the hemi first came out in the Rams, it was only offered in the 2500's! I think you were replying to an old post, when that was the case, only the 2500's.

Just about everyone here now knows that it's also offered in the 1500's.

sorry but no way in hell - lol

remember, his truck is made with and for a turbocharger and he probably has a lot of money into it to get 350 rwhp (just meaning basically nothing is stock on it). My motor is stock except 1.7 rr and fuel injectors with a crappy sized TB0301 turbo and nothing is tuned right.. plus ad to the fact that he has 4 wheels spinnin for him - i have the one wheel peel dance going on.

The best time i have had was a 13.52 @ 103 with a 100 shot of nitrous (not turbocharged then). I am gonna be going the nitrous route again because it doesnt blow head gaskets like a turbo does and bigger power gains. Since that run i have done a lot of other mods but i will be adding 4.10 gears and a LSD soon so maybe i can get the sixer into the 12s...

Thanks for the reply dude. At least you see that there is a point ot all this discussion. Everyone is going to defend each others ride that is all that it is. I think it is funny that 1 bad dakota gets so pissed off about stuff anyway. Your truck sounds really kickass dude for being a sixer like mine that is awesome. I think that when you go to 4.10 gears and limited slip you will see something in your truck that you probably haven't seen in a while, more speed. Be worned though when you put 4.10 on a six it loses some in the top end. And the traction is hard to get too though. But I am sure that you will figure it out. My sonoma I put 3.73 in it and it woke it up like you wouldn't believe. But 12's with a six is awesome. I had a buddy a mine put a six speed behind his six in a sonoma and put 4.88 in the rearend. Dude that thing would just fly. When he put it on the bottle i think that his best time was like 11.9 or something like that. Pretty killer.
But thanks again for the reply dude. Have fun beating the pants off alot of people that think you just have a six, you know what I mean. You have one hell of a sleeper. Later

i have 3.55s now so i think i 4.10s would be good. I really just need a good limited slip (broke my trac lok after one day)... have a b*tchin rearend setup consisting of ladderbars, coilovers and drag shocks... just cant get traction... best 60ft is 2.2 with slicks... pretty sickening huh?

This forum is funny. I have a 95 sonoma with a 4.3,5-speed, headers, intake, and full 3" exhaust. It has 191,000 miles and to this day no other V-6 truck that I have raced except a Toyota Tacoma S-runner has ever out ran me. My truck does high 15's in the 1/4 and 0-60 in 7.4 tics. I did race a brand new extended cab R/T and took him off the line, but he did beat me in a distance of about 1/4 mile. I dont really think of my truck as "fast", but then again the only stock trucks I think are "fast" is a lightning, a SS454, of couurse the legendary SYCLONE, and the S-runners. Hell, I have beaten Dodge Dakotas with my 2002 Trailblazer, and that boat weighs 4400#s. I think you dodge guys need to reconnect yourself to reality. These trucks are not slow, but I have yet to consider any stock dodge "fast". I live in the Florida pan handle, I'll be looking for you at the light, or where ever!
