Subject: whistling while its beginning to work

Message:
Every time I start my truck when the engine is completly cold, there is a whistle coming from some where under the hood only when i put it into gear. If the truck is in park or nuetral no noise, but Drive or reverse i hear a slight whistle and hear it a little bit louder when I give the truck a little gas. The noise only lasts for about a minute then everything is cool, until the engine is completly cold again. Any ideas of what this could be?

Troy the whistle you are hearing is the IAC solenoid its located on the back of the Throttle Body and it is a common problem for the Dodges its not going to harm anything just that the little plunger is not engaging all the way and it makes a whistling sound mine does it all the time and I have the FIPK 1 round air cleaner and its more noticeable than with the stock air cleaner assembly. What you can do is remove the TB and remove and clean the Sensor with some Carb Spray and a lint free cloth and also clean the port in which it goes into Just be careful with it and take your time. Its pretty easy fix that needs to be done time to time.

if it only does it in gear, maybe its the trans whining due to the cold?? mine did that a lot before i got the trans-go, now it very rarely does it...although it could be that sensor thing hes talking about too hehe

Are you sure about the 'not going to hurt anything' part 1Flamed92Dak,
, because mine does it and the performance is totally shot. It buckles under full throttle, and misses under heavy stain. Then one day, I heard something pop under the hood, and the whistling was gone, then the engine performance came back. I am completely baffled.
