NS (Nitrous Steve)

simple, catchy...good luck, sounds like its
gonna be a hit. definately quality made and
"above the rest" compared to all other intakes
available for the 4.7

X-treme ach! sorry, but thats way to "bleh" if
you know what I mean, xtreme doritos,
extreme s-10, extreme this and that is played
out.

I like NS intakes...or NS performance, you
thinkin of going into other aftermarket parts?

Now how about some numbers?! No rush of course and the intake looks great. But intake manufacturers rarely provide any dyno or timeslip improvement numbers for 4.7L intakes. Provide these and you'll be way ahead of the rest.

I like the NS intakes or NS performance intakes myself. Extreme things are definitely played out. Especially when you see "Extreme Slurpies" advertised.

I think your rwhp would be some where around 201-204? Even g-tech numbers work. They are pretty accurate from what I understand. And at least we'll be able to see change. So far it seems that the only intake numbers around are from the K&N Kipk and those numbers were crappy.

its tough, so many different varieties of daks
available...dyno charts are your best bet. 0-60
times are different depending on driver,
conditions, tires, auto, manual, RC, CC, etc. it
would be too hard to sell a product based on
0-60 times unless your selling
superchargers, and the difference is in the .5
to 1 second range. I doubt a cold air intake
would even take a 1/10th off of your 0-60
times. it would only shave 1/10th (maybe) off
an 1/8th mile time. dyno it before and after
(after the computer has learned) and use
those numbers as an increase in
performance.

Now, what about crud getting splashed up into the air filter? Or breathability, if you have a shield around it?

the filter is in the fenderwell.unless you have the shroud in the wheelwell removed(bagged daks),it should be ok.the 4x4 guys might have to use the new k & n
filter wrap.its new,not the foam one.this is waterproof.like the ones on motorcycles and snowmobiles.it slips over it,to protect from mud and water.
working on the #'s. hard to deal with the weather this time of year.i just woke up to snow, and they did not even forcast this mess.

I have a K&N Gen 2 so I can't turn the airhat. What I am looking to do is to extend the tube towards the fender and mount the filter inside the fender away from the engine heat. I just don't know if the inner fender is the same on a 4.7L and a 5.9L.

ok, i see what you are trying to do.i did not know you all ready had a kit.the inner fenderwell should be the same on all daks '97-'2003.i am not sure about adapting to the k/n.it is plastic, right?the piece i use for the fender block off,i can make for you ,if you get the inlet to the opening.your filter probably will not fit thru the openong, you will have to get a
smaller diameter filter.what do you think of my 4.7 ns performance intake?(stage 2)

From what I've seen for the 4.7's, yours looks like the best available. A friend of mine bought the Z tube for his but it still doesn't locate the filter outside of the engine bay. That seems like the whole point of cold air intake kits, to get the coolest air available which is obviously outside of the engine compartment.

On your intake, is the plate that mounts to the inner fender mounted with screws or what? If it is mounted rigidly to the inner fender and the tube is mounted to the engine, wouldn't that create a lot of stress on the two mounting points (TB and fender)? Or is mounted with some type of rubber coupler? Do you have any pictures of your intake that you could send to me? I am interested in the mounting plate and the filter specifically.

Thanks
Wesley

no stress,at all.a coupling at the throttle body, and it is mounted at the fenderwell.(the plate has a cushion type trim, and it utilizes the factory bolts there.the inlet tube can move in and out of the plates opening ,if needed,it is not welded.i thought of that all ready.
