Subject: M1 on , YAY , I did it ! IP: Logged
Message: Took me 3hrs 20 min. to get the beer barrel off. 1 hr. of surface prep. 30. min to get it on and torqued down. So , 5 hrs the 1st day and 3 hrs to put everything back for a total of 8hrs. Ohhhh my hamstrings and back. I dont see how anybody could do that install in less than 4 hrs.
It choked and coughed when I 1st start it up but then smoothed out nice. Gonna let the computer learn a bit before I smash the gas. I BETTER FEEL SOME IMPROVMENT. I`ve had no luck with anything I put on. Jet chip is junk. MP PCM is junk. Hi flo cat is a noise maker. 52 mm TB did nothing.
Anyway , I`m no pro mechanic but if anyone wants some tips or advice on the install , I`d be more than happy to share.

Message: Strange that the poster called the MP PCM, the hiflow cat and the larger TB all "junk" - that's hardly what the hundreds of other users thought. Hmmm. Perhaps the poster is expecting too much - if he expects to get low 14s from his truck with just the M1 he'll likely be very disappointed, as it seems his truck is pretty much stock except for the M1....perhaps I'm wrong. ;)

Message: yeah , Fuild , thats me. You`d be pissed too if yer still in the 15s with 2,500 + dollars spent.( 99 reg cab R/T)
dynoed a wimpy 217 rwhp and ran 15.16 @ 89 with :
headers
hi flow cat
gibson 3"
52 mm TB
K&N FIPK
brass cap n rotor
3923s
180 stat
MP PCM
tonneau
60` - 2.2s
15.01 @ 92 with stock PCM
The air was cool , elevation is low.
Now you see why I need to see and feel some improvement with that M1.

Message: Ah, if you cant get a regular cab R/T into the 14s stock, hang it up. My club cab with a 150lb tonneau cover runs 14.8s all day long. Its got a PCM, stock TB, and the catalytic convertor removed. Oh and thats on RSAs too.
Try removing the airhat next time. Good for 3/10ths and 3 mph

Message: 217 rwhp seems to be really low. There has to be a reason to be found yet.
My 95 5.2 5 speed(with mods) was at 245rwhp before the M1 2bbl install.

Message: Maybe its the 52 mm TB. Seems a little large for the truck with those mods. I thought a 50 was good unless supercharged. Anyone else have ideas?

Message: Got 70 miles on the clock after install to let the computer learn a little. Put the go pedal down hard and she pulled pretty good. All the way to 5200. Sounds a little different too. Gonna take it to the track on a nice 55 deg. night and see what happens.

Message: I finally got my 01 R/T CC to Houston Raceway last Friday. It was a hot, muggy, terrible night for drag racing. I was not overly impressed w/my times either. She went 15.7 @ 87 mph. The only mods being a FIPK and a MSD 6A. My buddy was also there w/his 318 Grand Cheerokee TSI. He has a bunch of mods and was posting the exact same times as me(yeah I thought it was weird too, we could of carried a conversation going down the track). His truck has ran a best of 15.1 @ 89 in good cool weather so that was a bit of a consulation. I also got to weigh my R/T. She is a healthy 4175 w/me in it. His Cheerokee was under 3800 lbs. I am now debating which mod next PCM or headers. I want this thing in the high 14's!!!

Message: Hey, you from houston dude? I don't really know any dakota guys here, how often do you go to HRP, and what color is your dak? When I can afford to take some time off and head down there I might have to keep an eye out..

Message: Yeah I am in Houston. Well actually in the suburbs(La Porte). We don't go as often as I would like to. Send me an email and I will let you know when we go next time. What part of town are you in? There were two other R/Ts there both black and only one of them was racing. I tried to catch up w/the owners but never saw them. And my R/T is silver.
Later, Joey
