Subject: Duner, turbo's produced yet?

Hey, anyone know (duner) if the turbo's are ready to sell for the 4.7L? I am ready to invest my hard earned cash for some hard earned ass-kicking on the street! Just curious as to the latest info on your turbo systems. I am ready when you are!

lol, well..there's a problem with this..

It's best summed up in this huge ass post a ways back about it, but basicly, we would need 5 people to initally buy it and put half down on it. It's not a matter of money either, it needs to be 5 sets. I think I'm going to opt for a 5.7 myself since it should cost the same, but who knows, we'll see. I am getting to the point where I want to try building a turbo....heh.

oh BTW check out this twin turbo'd corvette,
you gotta hear this badboy...a turbo'd v8 would
be soo cool sounding, but I think the
supercharger is the safest route.

A Paxton would help, but no where near where a Turbo would. You could run less boost on that turbo and have a faster time. If you go supercharger, you've got to go twin screw.

I just put the turbo kit idea on the back burner because I couldn't get 5 people together to get it started. I've been so busy with my regular work plus the time I spent trying to get the truck ready for the Nats that I didn't even think about it anymore.

If we could just get 5 people with money in hand......

No, we had a nice discussion on the water injection. He said it worked ok at lower boost levels, but at higher ones 12+ I think he said the ignition system was proably having troubble with it. Corkey Bell, a guy who knows a lot about turbos isn't that fond of it either. No intercooler on his kit, it has fuel management instead. I personally would take the managemen over the intercooler. If you want to buy an intercooler there are tons online to choose from.

If I had a turbo, think I could make an ice box around the intake and just use the abundance of snow we keep around here during 8 months of the year, hehehe.

wasn't asking about water injection. he has a water/air intercooler on his engine. if that was in the kit he'd have another buyer with money in hand.

D, why is a supercharger safer than a turbo?

Not tryin to prove you wrong, I'm only asking cuz I'm new to engine mods still and have always been under the impression that a turbo was easier on the engine in the long run to the the gradual addition of power rather than it just being BOOM, right there as the rpms rise for a supercharger.

duner, you should sell the CBE (crude but effective) version...lol

i have some pics of the intercooler (and the rest of the engine) if anyone wants to see.. thats if its ok with duner

What about the Speedtweaks turbo kit? Are you guys going to run basically the same setup (Duner)? And if the cost is about the same, then I'm all for it. I would LOVE to hand over some money for a turbo kit, but it has to be dynoed and tested for a period of time. I'd have no problem forking over the entire price of the kit (with the above exceptions).

Eric - That would be great if you could post some
pics of it! I need to get myself a digital

Sam - It's pretty tough to type and explain what
it sounds like isn't it? hahaha

I had hoped to hear what it sounded like going
down the track from the outside. I watched a few
videos of it and since for each race I was racing
much noisier trucks (Outlaw class @ Nats) I
couldn't even hear a sound other than the tires on
each shift. Is anybody else having trouble with
trunkated posts? My posts keep getting chopped
off early..... maybe somebody is trying to tell me
somethi

had any problems with it as of yet (duner)?
did you squeeze any more power out of it with
the intercooler?

I won't say that everything was totally problem
free... I had some teething issues, but I was in
the "research and development" stage and created
some self-inflicted wounds. Once I quit trying to
figure out what I could and couldn't do with it
everything has been fine.

I think I'm making more power out of it now, but
haven't had the kind of conditions to show it as
of yet. My trip down to Tucson showed me that it
should be quicker at lower altitudes, cooler temps
and a better prepped track. I can hardly wait for
the temps to start dropping again so I can go
prove it!

This line is added so that when it gets cut off it
