Message:
Just a generic question...just got this Powerdyne, will not be able to put it on the Dak till I return from Hawaii in two weeks, but how long should that unit last? Anybody have any long term experience with one of these units?

Thanks for your help and aloha!

i have heard the paxton novi 2000 kit is the BEST kit on the market for dakotas. i have not only heard this from many R/T owners, but from a a KENNY BELL owner!! the fuel system is the $hit. fool proof.

you can also get just the blower, and a split second box, so you can tune the sysetem for a "modded" engine

Well Vortech is one of the top rated SC's you can invest in. ATI may not be on that list but never heard of one crapping out and they are probably one of the best performance wise. But to each their own.

vortech is going to stop making SC's for the dodges because they merged with paxton. with the paxton you get the btm and boost bypass valve included with the kit,and the kit is 50 state legle. and you can spin the hell out of the blower without having to worry...anything over 6#'s on the powerdyne, and all bets are off

you will still need a btm ($500) and a boost bypass valve ($80) that brings the price of the powerdyne to about $3300. for that price you can get in on the GB price of the novi 2000.

powerdyne might sell more units, but im sure that is because of the price. (obviously without the bypass, and ignition)

the vortech/paxton kits are complete, so you dont have to buy anything else to make it work, and they are verry reliable. the paxton kit also comes with the "paxta map" and 2 belt tencioners, so the belt will not slip

i have heard of 2 guys running 12# of boost on the stock head gaskets with the paxton 2k blower and has had no problems. he has 12,000 miles with A LOT of track time. this is because the fuel system is AWSOME. it dosent just up the fuel pressure, and overload the injectors.

ask drtswinger how many (fel-pro) head gaskets he has blown with 6#'s of boost on his powerdyne ;-)

I blew one set of stock, and it took about 2 weeks for the fel-pro's to go. Im running fel pro again, but this time with 24# injectors and btm, and its hasn't had one problem. Not to contradict ya or anything, but i got my blower, fuel system, fuel and boost gauge, K&N filter, 9# pulley, and btm for 1800 used on ebay.

krcperformance stopped carrying powerdyne...
website states,

"No offense to Powerdyne, but we have sent
too many back for internal failures and belt
problems, so we no longer will carry this
supercharger. We do have the Paxton's and
Whipple Superchargers available also."

thought I would throw a wrench into this
discussion.

I would go with paxton Novi 1000 for the 4.7,
and vortech S-trim for the 5.9

Yeah, he does that sometimes. Tell you what, though.... you don't want to help the competition too much. Once he's in a race with you and that belt breaks, you may get the lead back from him and WIN the race. If he knows in advance about that Powerdyne belt, he may swap over to a Paxton, and then you've got no chance.....

Why not state the plus/minus of each unit, price (approx). and leave it at that. People can make up their own mind (or if you have split personalities-- MINDS)

I've heard good about Powerdyne (for the money), Vortech (one of the quickest RTs has a Vortech-- 12.2 @ 119 mph-- new owner now, not sure who), Paxton seems to be a solid kit, the ATI Procharger was a nightmare for the RT crowd, not sure on it's status now. The Kennebell setup makes tons of power from idle up (bugs have been worked out by a few owners, who are willing to share/and swear by them). I myself am going with a 300+ shot of nitrous! LOL.

If I can get another 100 hp out of my latest mods (N/A) I will be a happy camper-- no SC or N02 problems/worries.

And no, you do not need a bypass if you unless you run over 7 pounds...I will be running 6..jimminy christmas..I didn't know everybody would get all tense about it..I was just asking...
Yes, I do fire up easy, I am the first to admit it, but I am also the one that has to back it up. As a biker for 30 years, I think I can. Nonetheless, thanks for all the imput, (I think).
It was an innocent question until some cats got all wound up about paxton/vortech/powerdyne debates...easy now fellas, its okay, it will be alright.
