Subject: spark plugs and altitude

My mechanic buddy says to run a "hotter" plug at altitude due to decreased compression (5-7,000 feet). I am running the lister standard 3923's which I believe are "colder" than stock? What do you think? So I go back to the stock heat range plugs?

Well as the air density decreases your computers reduces the fuel pulse to corespond to the readinings it gets from the o2 sensor's. 5000-7000 realy is not that much altitude. I would run the stock plug unless you are bottle feeding you babby or force feeding. You never want to run hotter then stock!!!!!! Going two heat ranges hotter can blow an engine. You can always go cooler but why??? If detonation is not a problem stay with stock heat range.
