Hi guys, I'm new to the list here. I have a '95 Dakota XLT 4x4 that is slowly leaking tranny fluid. I noticed when it started shifting bad this winter. I add a quart and it's fine for a month or so. Two questions:

1) Is this common after 130,000 miles?
2) Do you think a standard Jiffy Lube tranny service will help this, or is it indicitive of a more serious problem.

I just bought this thing last summer nad plan on doing some trailering this year. Wondering if I should wait.

Thanks

Take it to a trans shop and have them find the leak and inspect the trans . Most leaks are simple to fix , but could be the frist sign of another problem . Front or rear seal leaks come from things like bad bearings or u-joints .If the trailer is big and you tow it far from home you might want to have it rebuilt . If you do have it rebuilt install a Trans-go shift kit , it will tow better and last longer. If the leak is easy to fix and the trans checks out ok be sure to adjust the bands and change the fluid.
