Oh yeah, I was waslkin down the road last night and saw a Viper 800 twin Turbo, you know the one that runs low 10s..well I stood next to him in my runnin position, and when the light turned green, he hit it and I booked, I musta pulled about 4 or 5 car lengths on him by foot!!

The 3.9 cannot beat the 5.2 or 5.9, all in stock trim. A heavily modified 3.9 may beat them, but not stock. I have owned both V8 Dakota's, and driven the V6, and the V6 is sick, when compared to the V8's. No replacement for displacement!!!

sorry troy buddy but you have issues with yourself i think..... it's either you have no imagination, or no mechanical skills that may be needed to actually build something that is a little more challenging, or you suffer from a condition known as "small johnson". Bring it don't sing it that's all i have to say, if your v8 is bad ass then let's see that it is bad ass if not let the rest of us enjoy our vehicles and enjoy the time we spend making them faster... car/truck enthusiasts are people with a hobby and that is CARS or trucks, we all share a love for cars and trucks, now show some love for your fellow dakota owners or else do not post....

Jay, your an a@@hole!!!! Are you about 10 or 12 years old, or just stupid? I was wondering this, due to the "small Johnson" comment. I do have an imagination and mechanical skills. I have a 2000 QC 5.9L 4x4 that I have done every modification on myself. It is naturally-aspirated, no nitrous, and runs on 87 octane. It will stay a fender-length ahead of a new Mustang GT from a start to 120 mph. If you don't believe this, bring your V6 ass on over, and I will prove it. Now I'm singing it, you bring it!!!! I am a car/ truck enthusiast as well. I have made modifications to every vehicle I have ever owned. I love improving a vehicles performance, looks, handling, etc. I just don't like to hear such off-the-wall crap as the 3.9 V6 beating the 5.2 and 5.9. This is ridiculous!!! I know several people with 3.9's (manual and auto), and my former '99 CC 4x4 with the 5.2L (5-speed), would kill them. My current 5.9L is a good bit faster than my 318 truck. Therefore, I don't see a case for your argument. Besides, you never did say what you drive. Let's hear it. Let me guess a 8-9 second bone-stock Dakota V6. Is that close?????

Hey, V6's ain't all that bad. I Beat a 2000 CC 4.7 (K&N, rest stock) with my Puny little 3.5L FWD Intrepid all the time. He normally has me until about 30 mph. then I get into the 24V high-rev powerband (3000rpm+) and fly by him. :)
Why can't they make an engine that has good low end torque like a truck engine and still maintain high end performance like a car engine?
and the weight/HP issue? not really the case. I weigh in at 3600lbs+ with my sound system, and my soon to be 100K miles doesn't make my little 214 hp any better.

Boy, it looks like someone couldnt tell this thread was started as a joke as in all in fun. Bernd, that V8 tailgate ornament comment hurt, really it did. You just dont know what it feels like or how much it hurts when you get beat by a truck with fewer cylinders than you. Since your packin' the sixer, I doubt there are too many 4 banger packin' trucks that could put the hurt on you.:) naw just jokin', in all seriousness, my bud wants to race me in his 96 Ram with 5.9, 4x4, auto, K&N intake, flowmaster, lift kit, 33" tires and the same gears as me(3.55's....hehehe). Could my 93 5.2 4x4 auto Dak take hime? Its bone stock. I knwo that is the last question alot of you wanted to hear but he is bugging the crap out of me and if I loose, he wont let me forget it......ever! I think this is a great thread, just as long as some folks dont take it too seriously.

Oh ya. You all suck. Yesterday after reading that comment the Bernd made i went outside riped out the crappy 5.9 throw in a 1 cylinder brigs and straton. I put high compression pistons. 1.7 rocker system, K&N, 950CFM Carb 4barral, crazy cam shaft, Supercharged with leaf blower at 150lb of boost and a 50 shot of nitros. Took it to the track. 1.2 in the 1/4 mile. The real advantage i have over all of your trucks is that i have to catalitc converter so my exhaust system is taking it to full advantage. Took it to the dyno makes 9000hp at rear wheels. I can throw her into 4wd and do a burn out.
Bernd your 6 is just a talegate ornament for me now. HAHAHAHA
Also my 245 hp 5.9 lawnmore is cool for cutting the grass but a pig on gas.

well to all of you that think v8's are definetley the fastest, your wrong cause if you got to http://www.dragtruk.com/ENTRIES/14et.html scroll down the page a little and you'll see a 3.9 V6 that runs an 11.26@123.19 im pretty sure thats as fast maybe faster than the fastest R/T (bigbird).

Those Briggs engines are tough little motors. I have a 25hp V-twin on my tractor and it is one powerful little motor and it sounds beastly too. I will let you guys know what it sounds like with no muffler tommoro :)

Heck with the Briggs & Straton - I wanna figure out how to set up a leaf blower to work as a supercharger! With enough pulleys I could extend the starter cord to come out under my dash; just add some duct tape and bailing wire and...Do they come in an electric version? DC to AC power converter, some switch on the TB to complete the loop at WOT, etc.
Then again, perhaps a fire extinguisher would be a wiser mod for me... :-P

I'll take my Tecumseh Go-kart and race ya. Ported Intake/Exhaust, milled head, Briggs valve springs (for higher RPM's), K&N filter, modified Carb, and runs on 108 octane race fuel. Oh yeah...also used to have my Sneeky Pete on it as well with a 2HP shot...yes, custom drilled jet. ;)

Okay... I'll challenge any of you with my other ride - a one-horsepower, 1350 lb belgian/thoroughbred. Better rear-end than 3.92 diff., incredible throttle response - no need for fancy billet, above average mileage (2 bales of hay day @ $2.50 bale), studded shoes on front only - never stuck, no emission problems (well, I don't find them a problem!!), brilliant central processing unit, AND... can jump a 5' fence - d'ya think a 4.7 could do that? Oh yeah, he could probably trim a lawn as good as any of your Toros too!!

Should try coming against my neighbors cart that he built for his 17yo son using a 12 point chassis kit with a modified gas raptor engine. He has some junior dragster type wheels on it, and I'm not sure but I think he had a two bottle sneeky pete system on it till the cops thought it wasn't a good idea. Heh. Thing sounds like a Honda with that bee exhaust sound and to finish it off...a nice little Type-R sticker on the dash to complete the rice boy look he was going for. LOL. He can push a mean 45 MPH with it, so its pretty rad. I can't wait to see the body he is having made out of fiberglass.

Well, I certainly wouldn't say I ENJOY it! But they always know how to humble you ... letting go with a LOUD one when you're showing, or a long draaaawwwm out SBD when you are standing behind braiding their tails.
