Message: Theres not much out there for the Shelby. They made a few things when it came out but they are hard to find. I tried one of those Jet computer plug in things.Didnt help me any. I tried several things on mine, finally gave up and put a stroked 340/418. It runs great now 10.97 in 1000 ft. 1/8 mile in the low 8 sec. thats with the stock computer and headers closed, street tires. And a BAD 60 ft time. Mine is # 102 I bought it new now 21 years later I still love it.Its a sleeper because it can still pass for a 318. ha

Message: A 340/418 being run by the stock computer? That really only
means something if the stock computer is running the tbi
induction. Is it? Any LA stuff will work, it's just a D150 engine,
but the question is will the computer tolerate the mods. A cam
with 112-114 lobe separation and lift up to around .450" will
work as long as duration is conservative. CompCams has
some offerings, some require computer mods (think 360
computer). Otherwise, use whatever cam you want and
convert to a carburetor.

Message: The stock computer is controling the tbi and Its a 55 mm tb, It works pretty good, I know it would be faster on a carb but for the extra work and cost ive been driving it like this for a couple years. It works pretty good. Ran a 10.97/1000 ft.in street class.

don't mean to denigrate what you've managed, but one can't
help but wonder what it'd run with a custom controller.

Message: I got it from fastman. I sent him a 360 tb and he built it for me. I built a adapter for it and am running a torker intake. I also wonder how much better it would run even with a carb.It runs good so i hate to mess with it.Guess iam getting lazy in my old age. I though i answered this already.

Message: I have two Shelbys (233 and 1238). 233 will run in the mid to high 15s with true duels, headers and Edelbrock Performer with a TBI adapted thanks to Jon Steiger. I have tried the 360 TBI route. I pulled two from 360s (definitely 360s), but they are identical to my original (same numbers, etc.). I believe that my original TBI is THE original. Anyone know how to properly identify a 360 TBI.
Mild cams will should work with a 360 TBI. Jet will make you a computer to match your setup if you tell them how your engine is setup.
As far as being a Shelby not mattering: Challenge!
I have been offered almost $10,000 for #233 because it was a Shelby. What other Gen I Dakota will sell for nearly that much?

Message: The computer on my 1989 Dodge Shelby Dakota truck is not working. My son thought it was the fuel pump which was replaced and that was not it. Now, I am positive it was the computer which was checked at the Dodge Dealership. The computer does not even tell what it is on the tester. I know it was rebuilt over a year ago right before I purchased it from the original owner, who is a friend of mine. It only ran for a few weeks and quit. I have a lot tied up in it already. Do you know where I can get a computer that works for this model? Would it be better to sell it as is, or replace the computer? It was garage kept and looks nice and was serviced regularly. The only thing wrong is that it needs the computer replaced. If possible, I would like it fixed. Thank you in advance if you know where I can get a computer or give me advice.

Message: One from a 89 full-size with a 318 will get it running (but may be tuned slightly differently). There are still planty TBI trucks in the junkyards. One from a 91 318 Dakota might also work.
