Subject: cost effective engine mods to 5.9's IP: Logged
Message: what are some of the best engine mods, intake-TB combo's, injectors, computers, and anything else for 02 5.9's. I have a stock 2002 cc r/t and i'm looking to get in to the mid to low 13's in the 1/4. any suggestions would be great!

Message: How do you want 13's. Are you going NA or are you gonna add a turbo/supercharger/Nitrous? Setups are different depending on which way you wanna go.

Message: Getting a 4200# brick into the 13's is going to take some effort. You're not going to do it with simple cheap bolt on mods.
Start with cam, head, intake, and headers. To get the most benifit from these parts, you'll need some dyno time with a custom computer chip.
Then start looking at the other things that make a race car fast and a truck slow: gearing, weight, and aerodynamics.

Message: I would suggest the lightning killer package from KRC. That with some good traction adders and it will happen.
Finally... a V8. '01 Dodge Dakota RC, 4.7, 5-speed, 3.92 LSD. = R/T Killer. well at least a stock one

Message: Well i already have headers and true duals, but I'm still up in the air if i should supercharge it. I know the block is good and should support some mods if i go NA. As far as superchargers go, I really like Kenne Bell's stuff and i am semi-familiar with it, but i don't know too much about centrifugals out there. What is the best computer chip and or PCM? Thanks guys!

Message: If you notice... it says a stock R/T. I mean completely stock, because mine is stock. You can read up on Mopar magazine and stock for stock a 5-speed 4.7 with beat a R/T, not by much, but they do win.

Message: I still race you. LOL. I love Dakotas. I was going to get a '99 CC R/T, but I found this baby and I could not pass it up. Well, not really, they would not finance that truck and I did not have all the dough, so I dealt with it. I love my truck. It is a blast to drive and so are R/Ts. God, I love Magnum V8 power.

Message: the exhaust profile is a good start, but ramrod is exactly right, you should have an idea of where you want to go (supercharger, turbo, nitrous, or n/a.) i think any one of these will work without any upgrades to the bottom end of your motor, it should hold up. I personally think heads, a cam, and an intake that match your selected induction type would be the next step, matched with a descent fuel management system, like a gen7 or haltech, ect. that way you could tune it to your new intake profile. then when you get your turbo, or whatever you choose, you could upgrade your fuel delivery system accordingly and retune your ecm. you can piece all this together as you go, but you will have problems without an ecm upgrade early on. this all depends on how deep you want to go, there are lots of ways to get to 13's, this is just what im going to do. (with a turbo, of course:) hope this helps
