The best ones I have used are the ceramic type, they work best with slotted and drilled rotors.
If it ain't broke, fix it til it is.

I agree, I've found ceramics work best for me also.

Raybestos does not recommend ceramic pads for heavy duty use/towing. Otherwise, they probably are the best all around pad.
I've also used Performance Friction carbon fiber pads with excellent results.
