If you are in the Phoenix area, SpeedWorld is having it's last club day next Sunday. A number of us ( 7 or 8 ) mopar fans will be setting up some friendly race competition with some of the local GM guys. If you are interested in joining us just post here or e-mail me and I'll get more details to you. I think we have one Dakota R/T(all stock) running, as it stands now.

HTRjohn@HotMail.com

This is all in good fun, nothing real serious. Gates open Sunday the 17th at 9:00am. It is a T&T club day and the gate is $20.00 for you and car to race.

I'm in Phoenix and I will definitely try to make it. I've only got an 02' 4.7 with HO cams, HB intake and flowmaster but we'll do our best. I've beat one R/T before so maybe we will have us some competition for those GM dudes.

Great, we need the help.
No problem getting in. If they ask you what club, just tell them your with dodgeDakotas.com and your there for the Hot Teams match.

We're getting a little close on time but here's what I would like for you or anyone else interested in competing to do.

Send me an e-mail with the following info.
[ HTRjohn@HotMail.com ]

-Year, make, model, color
- engine size
- Any power adder you run (nitrous, s/c, turbo or none)
- tire size and type (example: dot 235 or 9" slick)
- Your Performance Index number.

Go here to get that number: http://www.outrunu.com/Tech.html
This is the system we use to match cars based on hardware. Be honest, you may be asked to varify some details. You need at least a 50 to race and be faster than 16.0et

I currently have one bone stock dakota R/T that is set to run a stock GTP. That dakota may not be able to make this race so I need at least one back up. I think his PI# was 58 but if yours is a bit lower that's still ok with me. I just need someone to fill that spot.

Just so you know, this is heads up, not brackets. I say that because heads-up makes some folks uncomfortable. You will get 3 points for the Mopar team if you win the race to the strip, you will get 2 more points for the team if you have the better reaction time, you will earn one more point (particpation point) if you race or get a time slip.

This is not high pressure so don't sweat it but I'm on the mopar team also and I'll tell you to watch the red light because you'll just get the one point if you red light. Also, if you know she is faster than your truck you may then want to push the tree abit to at least try for the 2 R-T points. Reaction time points are very important in this program. The team with the most points that day wins.

That performance index is B.S. My trucks better than a damn 49. I've beat a stock R/T, a 3000 GT (non-turbo), and a lots of GTPs. Not to mention a V-8 powered S-10. Crap I tell ya.

Hey I'll try to make it. But don't know about running my Dak. Mine's a 4X4 QC and I'd probably be better racing it on a more "low key" night LOL! although I'm curious where it sits in E.T.s

Anyway. I live 10 minutes from that track.
Is it $20 just to watch as well?

Graphite,
come on out and say hi.
If you like, you can use the Hot Teams test and tune lane. Come give me a holler once you get there and I'll give you the lane number.
I think it's $10 for spectators and $10 more to race.

raabs,

Hell, that's a good thing!

If your truck has a low PI# but runs as fast as those that are a higher score, that just means its really efficient for the hardware it has. I don't know if that's the case here, but you'll get a chance to see how it compares Sunday.

In your case, you will probably be running a stock GTP and I think she is scored at a 63. Most stock 4.7 Daks score 53 so yours is probably a bit higher than 49 but you'll still be the underdog in this race. It would be uncommon for a 10 point underdog to win but it's possible. Just do good on the tree and make a hail marry pass at it.

:)

I think I will be there for sure.

I took my video camera last year but it got dark because it was an evening thing.
Duner was there and ran mid to high 12's with his turbo 4.7!

If you look around on my web site under my projects there is a section of pics and videos.

I'll bring my camera and use it if i don't race.

I WOULD like to run mine just to see. Maybe see how much SLOWER I am with my extra weight!!!

I can't pull my truck box because I have a LARGE deep cycle battery in it for my stereo and computer system :(

But hey, if I DID race, it would be to see what I can do AS IT SITS right?
I'd hope it is at least 16's like a near stock QC 4X4 would be.

HTRjohn, were you there last year with Duner?
He doesn't come here too often these days.

Yes, I was there - that was a blast!
I have not talked to Duner in a while but I think he's still putting that turbo 4.7 back together. I'll send him an email and see if he is going.

Hey, if you do bring your camera that would be great. We don't have anyone to get video of these matches this time.

Ya know, this match between the GM's and Mopars is gonna be a tough one. I hope the Mopars do well but I can tell you that those LS1 and Buick Grand National cars are all very efficient for what they score for a PI#. In other words the Mopar team is competing some 60's ear carb technology against some of the latest and greatest EFI apps. I think driver ability to snap off good reaction times and avoid red lights is gonna be the only way the Mopar Team can pull this one off. This is gonna be interesting.

Hey. You said gates open at 9AM

is that just for the drivers to get there to work on their rides?

When should I actually need to be there to watch the races?

My mother in laws computer took a dump, hard drive kind of dump at that.
I need some time to work on it. If I don't need to be there at 9Am I'd like to know. but I still would like to be there an hour or so before the races start so I can go meet the guys.

Also. Do you have a picture of you Dakota you could post so I can find you? Obviously you can see what mine looks like here.

You may not be around to read this anymore, but I will be there for sure and stop by your trailer. I'll probably be there closer to noon or so especially since my kids would get bored if they waited so long before races started :P

I'll have a video camera and a digital camera.

See you there.

Well guys. I wish there would have been more than ONE DAKOTA at this race. But I guess it was short notice.

I did make some videos of the races edited down into single race clips.
Got a few of John's 73 Challenger 360 and the others.
Also couldn't help but take some of them 8 and 9 second Fox Body Mustangs. Those were fukking fast!

Nice video Graphite.
I passed the word along on our site also.
Nice metting you today. I think most of the Dakota guys are holding out for the Lightning vs Dakota match - which is the one truck focused event of the year. We should see some real strong running dakotas at that one.

By the way, that Dakota you see in that video was bone stock until he put on a new M1 yesterday and he said even in todays 92deg temp it still ran 2/10ths better than his previous best but I forgot what et he actually ran.
