Have any of you replaced your distributor cap with an aftermarket version? I was told mine leaks and to get a new one and the Borg Warner looked like a good one to have. Is it difficult to put on because of the location and is there a better version than the borg warner for comparable $?
thanks

The Borg/Warner is a good brand. And is the same as the Accel brand which others might suggest. As far as replacement, the easiest way is to put on a 2bbl M1 first. With the beer barrel on, it gets a little tight but can still be done. Make sure to mark all the wires as to which spot they go on to make it easier to put them back on.

Yeah, it was a little bit of a pain, but not too bad. Just crawl on up there with a flashlight and a screwdriver and get it done. If your cap is bad, you might as well change the wires at the same time; it's a lot easier to do with the cap on the bench.

I have the Borg Warner cap/rotor on my 99 5.2 cc. Just make sure whatever brand you buy, that they have brass inserts/contacts.

Yeah replacing the wires along with it sounds like a good idea. Its got 92k now. What would be the optimal wire size like 8mm or 7? And where could i purchase some red wires to go with my flame red exterior?

When I replaced my distributor cap, I also did the wires. I bought some Mopar Performance Wires (7.5mm) because I wanted to still be able to use the stock wire looms.

Summit Racing. I bought my cap, rotor, 8.5mm MSD wires and coil there at the same time. Red MSD wires, paid about $57 for the wires, part 32189. Picked up some Moroso red wire looms for about $10 at O'Reillys auto parts in town. Works for me.

The Taylor 8mm Spiro Pro wires will fit in the stock looms. You can order them from Sam P www.socaldakota.com
