Subject: HELP !!! 2nd- 3rd shift problem IP: Logged
Message: I have an 02' rt 5.9 with 30,000 miles on it, and my tranny is
acting uo now. When i step on the gas to the floor from a stop it
will shift great into second apx 4,800 rpm , than second to third
it shifts at 4,100 rpm and bogs doun the truck alot, than third to
O/D again it shifts at 4,800 rpm which is where it should be.
this has just started and i dont know why? also downshifting it
bogs a bit too and i am stomping it hard too.
I was thinking that it might have been fluid level it seemed a bit
high when the truck was in neutral and running, so i lowered it
inbetween the high and low level when hot. still this problem
exists....
Any help would be greatly appreciated..
thanks -Lee

Message: Hi Lee,
I have the exact same issue with my 01 R/T. It is a defective valve body in the transmission. Had it replaced and the 2-3 shift is back to normal. Good luck.
