Ok, I need a little help here. Does anyone know for sure that if
your dak r/t a 2002 model burnes out its computer at 15,000
miles ((covered under warantee)) the first time. And than burnes
it out again 8,000 miles later,Now they DONT want to cover it
under warantee. They say that due to the mods- such as Airaid
intake, moved IAT sensor, 1.7 roller rockers, thats why the
computer burn't out and now I have to pay
for the computer and labor?. Note that all this was on the truck
the first time when the same dealer waranteed the first
computer. Now
the truck is in the shop as we speak I'm not sure what I should
do. Please HELP :(

Do a search on the Magnusson Moss Act. I think that's the correct spelling. It says no auto manufacturer can void a warranty just because you put aftermarket parts on your vehicle unless they prove it is the direct cause of the failure of whatever part. Clearly you have something else going on here to fry your pcm than what you have done. I'm not sure what the warranty period is on the pcm so I'd investigate that as well. May have to talk to a zone rep for DC in your area/arbitration, etc. Good luck!

Airaid intake and 1.7 rockers won't make the PCM take a dump, their mechanical and have nothing to do with the electronics. However, relocating the IAT might cause a problem if you spliced wires to make the stock harness longer to get the IAT into the Airaid intake.

I had to extend the harness on my 4.7 when I reloacted the IAT into the air tube. I soldered and heat shrink tubed each wire to make sure the wire connections were good, wouldn't corrode or short out. If one of the IAT hot leads is touching ground it could cause problems.

i agree with another mark. the burden of proof is on them. besides i believe the pcm falls under emission controls & should be warrantied until about 80k or something(required by the feds). besides it has got to be something electrical. RR's and an intake wouldn't do that. get a second opinion if possible.

I'm with ya'll! Make 'em pay for it! I've seen enough people with all ya got done, and no one's ever had a PCM burn out. Altho, I can see what DSW is talkin about. If sumthin is wired correct or crossed somewhere, it could screw sumthin up. My question is tho, wouldn't the problem arise before an additional 8k miles?

I appreciate all the input everyone has offered, They gonna pay
,but the fight has begun with the dealer. Though I dont get it ,
they get payed full pop for a warranty anyway so what are they
fighting for unless they're trying to double dip me for a claim
and my money. Well again thanks for the info everyone I'm
gonna use it to my advantage i hope...
