Subject: 21or 24# injectors?

Message:
I know the subject of injectors have been worn out but I have recently noticed a loss in power at higher rpm's. I have a 93 5.2 with mods and I know the injectors have at least 170k miles on them so the 19# FMS 4 hole would make an improvment. I need to know from someone who knows what they are talking about, what would go with my set up the best. I have had problems E-mailing bruce at 50motorsports otherwise I wouldn't be here. The mods are:
K&N, M1 4brl with 2 brl adapter, Comp Magnum Cam 512 lift and springs, 98 RT heads, MP pcm, Block is Zero decked, MAP mod, 2002, Corvette electric fans, Completely worked 518 trans w/ 2800 MP stall, MSD 6AL, Taylor spirol wires, emgine was rebuilt 25k miles ago, and I will be adding 50mm throttle body and what ever injectors I need.
I have already view the posts all the way back to 2001.....still need help
thanks

for the 5.2, with only a 50mm TB,go with the 21's...I have an R/T, 5.9, and only after adding the 52mm I will still be okay with the 21 stock set. the higher the rating, the more fuel it'll shoot, so the more you'll burn, or possibly, not burn, depending on whether or not your engine can take it... even the higher rated cam shouldn't take as much fuel as a 24lb can shoot, unless you plan on running NOS. try out a set of 21's if you can find em in a used/salvage R/T, they'd be cheaper, and you can test it out to see if you feel the need for more.

You could also try calling up KRC performance, to see what they think, but I think I'm pretty dead on with what I am thinking..

I have similar mods as you have and a little more, and I'm running with the stock injectors.

I've tried the FMS 19#ers (yellow cap) both on the street (spray pattern made motor run a little rougher at idle and below 2000 rpm) and on the track (leaner at wot above 4500+ rpm and a higher duty cycle (roughly calculated) than the stock ones).

I tested the FMS 24#ers for a short while. With scanner attached, I saw that part throttle was extremely rich (cat would not last long with these and got approx. 90 miles on a half tank .. 11 gal.). Going to sudden wot at any rpm and the motor would bog badly (lots of carbon coming out of the exhaust pipes). Just my experiences.

I haven't tried the 21#ers, mainly because they have different wiring connectors from mine and I'd need to replace the connectors as well. That would be the same in your case.

The ratings of these non-stock injectors are a result from testing with a fuel pressure (43.5 psi ?) lower than in my 97 49.5 +/1 5 psi). I think that the 92s have a lower fuel pressure than the 97s but you also may have a return line so an adjustable fuel pressure regulator could be used.

I also have a friend with a 93 Dak RC 318 and similar mods to mine who runs with the stock injectors with ETs of 13.4x and trap speeds of 103+ mph.

Neither of us has your type of mileage though. Your performance loss in the higher rps might be because of your injectors are partially clogged or, if you have high mileage on the O2 sensor, then the response time of the sensor is probably slowing down quite a bit. HTH.

I just installed the FMS 19# in my 99 5.2. I idles much better and seems smoother in the midrange but doesnt feel any faster. As a matter of fact due to it being smoother in the middle it feels a little slower sometimes. I would say go with 21# INJECTORS.
